You've turned the NFL into "Professional Wrestling". And we get it.
The product isn't real anymore. You've canned a controlled and planned entertainment package and you've dictated a foregone outcome through officiating. You've orchestrated parity to a point where you can custom tailor the dreams of every type of fan for any franchise you want. The only ruffles you run into is when forces just beyond your control allow something to slip out into the public view.
Even then you're able to generally create enough side-show freakishness to distract the public away from actual issues long enough to bury them. Ultimately though, your scandals come back to haunt you. There is no truth left in the NFL.
From the white-washing of the Patriots video and audiotaping scandal through your completely arbitrary player conduct punishment policies, to terrible concussion and head-trauma handling for current and former players, to the inept handling of the Saint's bounty programs and now your blatant efforts to hide the fact that you know exactly the extent of spousal abuse that Ray Rice and other NFL players enact upon their wives and partners you have demonstrated a horrific pattern of disregard for the players and fans that make the game successful.
Rather you focus solely upon the financial value and potential of the league. You long ago chose to ***** out the integrity of the athletic pursuit in order to maximize your audience and marketing potential. Doing so, you destroyed the sport and created entertainment. No longer is it a game, but a show.
Are we to believe the NFL can't control the lights in the Superbowl? They can produce a world-class stage for top-tier talent and move it into place in 10 minutes or less complete with a major synchronized light show for up to 5 or 6 major artists in one 20 minute spectacle, but they can't keep the lights from going out for 10 or 15 minutes when the 49ers are gaining momentum.
Are we to believe the NFL, kings of modern media can't procure video of what happened inside the elevator with Ray Rice and his fiance?
Are we to accept any of the slew of bullshit that comes out consistently from the league office regarding arbitrary punishments, fines and findings from supposedly some of the best trained lawyers in the country?
Should we simply accept that the NFL can't come up with better helmets and gear for the athletes that represent their very livelihood because Riddell or Nike happen to have a really good contract right now so "sorry, we just can't switch to that better concussion preventative helmet."
Roger, you're a douche. The people you represent are douches. You've killed the golden goose to get at all the money up front and I hope you choke on it. Cause you've ruined the best game in the world.
**** off.
