While I can think of a handful of plays were he had an impact on offense, the other Watt's main impact is special teams

Is a quality special teams player worth $3 million a year?

Do you keep him just to satisfy your stud OLB?

I keep hoping the offense will start to showcase him more as a blocker and running the ball. He obviously has played well on special teams but I think he needs to show more on offense to get similar money after this season

Questio n really does he make it this season? I am not 100% sure

I think he sticks. He is a role player but solid at what he does. I could see them tweaking his cap hit if they feel like it. But I am not even sure they do that much.

He will make this year's team but I think he will have to take a pay cut for the following season and even then he may not make it. ST guys wear out and if he is used at an actaul FB he will get dinged up and thus a little slower........................................... catch 22.

Tomlin should get a limit of pure special teamers on the roster… its why we fade with injuries down the stretch

Fully agree, Cowher used starters early in their careers as special team's aces.

I see him sticking around. Connor Heyward will either be TE3 or an Hback with bud versatility and size. Canada will potentially use all available pass catching positions on the field and D Watt was a very good receiver out of the backfield with the Bolts.

he is the 2nd highest paid offensive player. he is a fullback that is barely used. one of those have to change.

That aspect didn't cross my mind. That brings up two points of interest.

1) We are a very young offensive team.

2) Derick is over paid but has a SUPER STAR brother on the team, should this fact be taken in accounting for the high wage to keep the happiness ?

eh, i dunno.

i see Connor as being selected because of his last name. a 5'11" TE that can't really block and has suspect hands? If anything, he'll be a PS guy.
Derek will hang around as a starter, hopefully w/o much of a pay raise unless we start utilizing him on offense, since TJ is further from his expiration date than Cam is.

I never understood the almost constant infatuation for a seldom used and fairly insignificant Steeler player

Imo- he has the size to be a bulldozing HB. Would be a great second punch with Harris. Lord knows they need one
