If the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t manage to lure Mike Munchak back to town, why not Doug Marrone?

Sources told ESPN on Sunday that Eric Wolford has accepted the offensive line coaching job at Alabama, replacing Marrone

There’s speculation that Marrone left Alabama because he intends to return to the NFL coaching ranks. Marrone of course last coached the Jacksonville Jaguars before being fired and replaced with Urban Meyer.

Now there was a lot of speculation that Marrone would head to Denver to reunite with his former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett who was just hired as head coach. But the Broncos hired an offensive line coach and booted Mike Munchak out of town.

Marrone broke into the NFL as an offensive line coach with the Jets in 2002. From there he headed to New Orleans where he coached the line and eventually was offensive coordinator. Hes also been the head coach for Syracuse University, the Buffalo Bills, and Jaguars.

One thing that’s constantly followed Marrone around has been solid offensive line play, and solid running games.

This guy sure does bounce around an awful lot.........

I dunno they are taking their usual snail pace though in putting pieces in place.

That snail pace has cost them quality hires in the past. With this HC we need quality coordinators coupled with him. I'd fly him in for a 5 star interview.

What have we got to lose................. no one better to promote from within ?

I could roll with Marone. I bet Tomlin's stupid *** doesn't do it though.

we had and OL coach last year?

Would much rather see Munchak, the O line has been garbage since he left. Hiring from within is a losing proposition.

It's damn near the only affordable piece of meat out there. Well, every part except wings. Wings cost so much that I keep looking for the uncut diamond when I take them out of the pack.

Cicken and Pumkin pie,................. hell yes !!!!!

can anyone be worse than last year?

I saw this quote way too many times last year and the Steelers proved it can be worse. I don't want to test this team again.
Have Rudy start and they will see worse. **** last season will be a picnic in comparison. Ditto any position coach.

Tomlin doesn't want any stars that shine brighter than his own. Saving grace is that Asst. OL coach Chris Morgan already left or you know for damn sure Tomlin would promote him so this makes room for Deuce to hire Munch or Marrone if he wants. Then it's just a matter if Deuce wants to write that check, which I'm not sure he does since the Stillers already have the lowest coaching payroll in the league.
