Couple weeks ago my gf had bronchitis really bad and one Sunday she was having trouble breathing so we went to the ER. She got a breathing treatment, IV, a steroid, chest X-ray, and some magnesium. At work we get $330 a month toward our health insurance, and if the plan is more you pay out of pocket. Also if you don't take the insurance through work, you can pocket the benefit money....
Anyways she has the high deductible plan with a small health savings account. She is paying the $330+about $30 a month out of pocket.
The emergency room bill came yesterday and it was $2200 and she is responsible for all of it. It was $1300 just for being in ER. The one xray was like $240 then a bunch of little things. No middle class and / lower middle class can afford that... Then you have people on welfare who get everything free. This whole healthcare system needs blown up.

Everyone knows you're suppose to go in there and se habla a bunch of times to get out of your bill.

Hospitals try to discourage people from using the ER by charging you an arm and a leg unless you are admitted. Unless you're pretty sure you need to be IN the hospital, go to an InstCare center, Walgreen's, whatever.

Once admitted it's both arms, both legs, and first born.

Send the bill to 1400 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C.
