That was it for me. Tomlin you are a ******* IDIOT. Why do you NOT call the ******* timeout on 3rd and 8. WHY? What the **** were you thinking? ****. I've had it with the ******* stupidity, and I can't make excuses anymore.

1- Running the ball is great, well, except when it's 3rd and 1, then we should throw the ******* ball, even though we've thrown like 2 passes so far, cause they won't be expecting that. Oh, what happened, you mean the WR who has seen no passes all day didn't make the catch? Gee, who the **** would have thought that. Punt.

2- We're down by a fuckload of points, and it's the 4th quarter, well, of course w punt on 4th and 4, why wouldn't we? ****.

3- Oh, look at that, now we're passing the ball. Let's throw it to Wheaton, who has obviously been having a **** day all day, and not Miller, who must have had his ******* legs cut off, since obviously he can't catch a ************* pass.

4- Lance Moore, yeah, lets start tossing balls to him in crucial situations, since he's been SO ******* involved so far, this is the PERFECT ******* time to showcase him.

**** **** ****!

You're KILLING ME.

This team will be lucky to be in the wildcard hunt. And with the level of talent they have on offense, I have NO ******* idea how they can week in and week out under-*******-achieve like this.

****.

Joe

I felt the doom of the day set in after that first quarter. We completely dominate, are able to run 15 run plays in ONE quarter, and only get 3 points. We forced back to back 3 and outs on D, and just continued to run and run and run. But not just with Bell, no lets change it up so none of the backs can actually get into a rhythm. And yeah, we are having all this success running the ball, and not ONE play action pass to take advantage of the creeping safeties. Normally, even after losses, I'd still watch football the rest of the day. Not today. I'm done for today...

Dude, I'm with ya, I've considered just going back to the Walking Dead marathon we've been watching all weekend. I actually had to go out to see this game, since I saw it wasn't on, and I was PISSED when we were KILLING them in the first quarter everywhere but on the ************* scoreboard. ****.

Joe

This is nothing new. Tomlin plays for FGs, field position, and the sweet sanctuary of halftime. He has a long, storied tradition of completely handing over the final few minutes of a first half, regardless of situation.

He's overly conservative to a level that would be humorous if I weren't a Steeler fan. He coaches like the AI on an old Madden game: you MUST punt on fourth down, you MUST kick a FG on a fourth within the 35 yard line, and you MUST run out the first-half clock.

I'm fine with not calling that timeout if our defense has been totally ****, but we had a few blown plays and that was it at that point. Call the ******* timeout, get your d on the sidelines and tell them, we think you're good enough to stop them, so let's do this, and stop em! Plain and simple, get it ******* done Mikey.

****. This is honestly the MOST pissed I've been about a Steeler loss in nearly 20 years.

Joe

No killer attitude in this team, You play the way you did in the first quarter and you have three points. Then you role over and die. Tomlin had any, he would of benched Wheaton and get the attention of the not committed team that you have had enough. He couldn't motivate an ant let alone getting in someone face and tell them to stop a play. I agree DONATOR most pissed off in many a year. Hard to watch let alone understand the poor play.

this team has a disconnect

that will not change until one head coach is shown the door

A franchise QB a pro bowl WR, a up in comer in Bell

yet game in game out a breakdown on O a breakdown on D

Starts and ends with coaching.

Wheaton after that performance should be benched.

But we know nobody gets benched on this team, unless you aren't Mr. Cool Shades favorite.

yet another pathetic embarrassing performance I have come to expect...............................

The way I see it, you call that timeout 100% of the time. Like you said, you show faith in your defense (no matter how ****** they might be). You cannot play terrified turtle-ball, scared to death of the other offense getting a free timeout. The goal is to SCORE ******* POINTS, not hope the other team doesn't have enough time to score that many. Refusing to take a timeout means you're punting for the half. For one, it's impossible to predict from the sideline whether their offense will complete this pass or that pass, and whether they'll score or not score. You create your own success. Secondly, you're admitting flat-out that you DO NOT trust your professional defense to stop a professional offense

Lucky to be in the wildcard hunt.......

Lucky to be in the wildcard hunt.....

Wow..

Lucky to win one more game is more correcter

Since when has this team been automatic in the redzone.....FGs is what we do. On good days we can move up and down the field at will. Once that field shrinks.....FG-ville. You could always count on this franchise to put up two or three per game.

This Browns team is an offensive juggernaut as indicative of how they loaded points on us in the second half of the first game, and how they loaded up and over came a large deficit vs Tenn. And then landing 21 pts in a quarter this game. When we play explosive offenses like today we are gonna be in a heap of trouble to make up ground. And i dont trust this offense or this OC to overcome that. We stink.

I've been saying it for years, Tomlin is football stupid. He has no concept of clock management, and doesn't really understand the game that well.

Last night on the Nightly Sports Call, Bob Pompeani seemed to suggest that the decision NOT to go for the Hail Mary at the end of the 1st half was indeed in the interest of ABs record. Did someone ask Tomlin and did he actually confirm it? I can't believe he would one way or the other then again, I can't believe he thought that play had a better chance of scoring than a Hail Mary.

I actually liked that call over the hail mary. I'd rather give AB the ball in open field with the chance to make someone miss than have our midget WR's try to out jump someone.

speaking of Lance Moore...

wtf is he getting a hat instead of Bryant? Moore is NOT in our future. Put up with the learning curve since our season is ******.

Andy Reid is really bad at clock management as well, and held onto the Eagles job for more than a decade and a half before being canned. He was immediately picked up by KC.

I don't think owners are looking for coaches clock management skills, they're more concerned with fielding a competitive team. The Steelers front office seems to be bucking the trend.

Steelers address their need at WR by signing Lance Moore in the offseason. The Ravens address theirs by signing Steve Smith.

Pretty much sums it up.

Wild card Hunt? these guys could not be successful in a polecat hunt!

It's not just that. The Rats take a bad team like TB and take them out after 1 quarter. The Steelers on the other hand dick around like a group of kids at recess and lose the game.

Good clock management is one thing that can help make a team competitive.

This is true, but do you really believe that top of the list of requirements when hiring a head coach are clock management skills. I'll bet that's often overlooked by most owners/managers. I think the Steelers organization took Tomlin on face value and didn't dig deeper into the intangibles you couldn't really gauge from recent assistant coach.

It does not have to be on the top of a list of requirements, just on the list. I still really think the Tomlin hire was so the Rooneys could develop a guy the way they wanted and in essence build a coach that was what they wanted. I think they had some recommendations from some guys whose opinions matter to the Rooneys and they tried to build an inexperienced guy into the next great head coach. It does not look like it is working out. Earlier in the year I thought we might end up getting rid of MT when he is just starting to get it and is going to take the next step in development. This years draft looked like it might be more promising than many we had in the last few years. Had the team amassed this same record while playing hard and losing close games just due to a bad break or the occasional bad play it would be something that indicates to me he has been developing and will get better. That is not the case the team has been getting destroyed by bottom dwellers. That tells me that MT is not the glass half full or half empty, he is completely empty.

It's not ******* rocket science, if you want time on the clock to score, you call that 3rd and 8 timeout. There is NO reason not to call it, we get that ball back, and have enough time, who knows what happens. We will never know, because we thought it a far better idea to hold on to that timeout so we could save one ******* second on the clock for that short AB pass, instead of having 40-50 seconds to move down the field.

Joe

I thought the clock management was typically bad at the end of the first half, but the end of the game was an even better example of Tomlin's in-game ineptitude.

Down by three touchdowns at the two-minute warning, with Cleveland already in Steeler territory, Cool Shades decides it's time to start using timeouts, presumably to get the ball back and drive 90+ yards in 1:37 in order to...only lose by 14? Then he just runs Blount twice, and actually has Ben throw a pass with 20 seconds left on the clock.

This guy is a football idiot. He shouldn't be coaching the Southern Lehigh Spartans, my local high school team, let alone the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So he took over playcalling (from Todd) in the game at which point ? What insider informant provided YOU this information ? Or did you ASSUME since he called timeouts, he also took over the OC mic at that juncture ?

Todd wouldn't have had to call any more plays, except maybe a kneel-down, had Tomlin just let Cleveland run out the clock. But you digress.

Todd was probably thinking WTF is this ******* doing? I don't have any inside information on who was calling the plays, but unlike your buddy Tomlin, I can learn from the past. Like in 2011, down 3 scores to the 49ers, when he called his last timeouts so the Steelers could get the ball back with 2 minutes left, inside their own 15, and had Ben try and throw it three times on a hobbled ankle before punting it back to San Fran.

Maybe you'll "ASSUME" that wasn't Tomlin's call, either.
