Film review of Kenny’s game/Arizona.

I didn't really see anything terrible here. The one where robinson was open underneath was a low snap and the primary guy seemed to be on the opposite side of the field. Pickett did not have time to look over there. The worst one in my opinion is where he missed Harris right in front of him. Pickett was scrambling looked at Harris then spun the other way. I have no idea why he didn't pull the trigger on that one

I'll say it again... Kenny "One Read" is definitively a real part of the problems in offense.

Before we drafted him - I said that he took too long to show his skills in college, at Pitt.

What's absolutely frustrating is Jalen Hurts was on the clock and we passed on him and picked Chase Claypool with the 49th pick of the 2020 draft...

Kind of like Humphreys TWICE.

I don't know how much more successful Jalen Hurts would be in Pittsburgh. I don't know how much more successful anyone would be in Pittsburgh. You pick Hurts in 2020, and perhaps he has his future ruined by Matt Canada and Mike Tomlin. It's a very real possibility because you know they would never call plays to his strengths.

I think Kenny is done in Pittsburgh. He has not grown in Pittsburgh, and it is my belief that as long as Coach Tomlin is here, no amount of offensive coordinators is going to fix the troubles he is having. Besides, I am about 98.761207% sure that Faulkner is going to be the next OC and that isn't going to help a damn thing. Stick a fork in Pickett. Time to draft the next QB to ruin.

I didn't watch the vid above but the only snap I would really say was a big misread and misfire was the play he got injured on. He has CA3 in motion and no one goes with him. So during the game my 15 year old sees that and says "19 is going to be open." Why did he say that. Because the defense showed zone. So his eyes should have seen we had the numbers advantage to the left. If I remember correctly DJ runs a slant clearing the CB out. If he looks left CA3 is wide open. He never saw him. My problem is this isn't an NFL read. This is a read a freshman in high school should make.

3, 2, 1 peanut gallery comments.

IMHO, in some fairness to Picket, and although I don’t love the collective body of work so far, he is under immediate duress just about every pass play and, especially against the vaunted Cardinals defense this week (sarcasm), so may be becoming antsy and feeling like he doesn’t have time to get to 2nd/3rd read. Has to get ball out or get moving. Often that spin to his left or on the injury play up the apparent hole in the middle that closed really quick.

Yeah Im going with we would ruin anyone anyhow…

All young qbs are mostly one read and dump 99% of the time. The difference is that we aren’t running the easy over the middle stuff because we are scared as always. Brock purdys first read is virtually always open… our first read might not even be running the right route and if one of our wrs isn’t going to be a top two read, they sometimes don’t care about really running the route.

Wasting more QB careers here is just stupid… just draft another RB and don’t even throw the damn ball… that what they really want anyway… no interceptions if there arent any passes

Put friermuth and Washington in at Wr and change DJs role to end zone dancer so he can celebrate the two tds we score in a year..

This team needs an Enema

Holding out hope that Omar and Andy can sort things out as to finding answers to their needs.
Reality tells me they are turning into Cleveland and will continue drafting QB's every year thinking that's the problem.

What we should do is trade for an established QB, so when we ruin him people can see how inept we are…

And OC or DC aren’t the problems… its definitely the only guy that has been here as long as the problems have been …

I speak, of course, of Garrett Giemont… the strength and conditioning Coordinator that has been around since 07.. about when the team started to lose its culture for some reason 🤦🏻‍♂️

We wasted half of a HOF quarterbacks career here. People thinking (insert any qb you want here) drafting a qb is going to fix the team and take it to a championship. It isn't.

I'm sorry but the HC,DC and OC have to go. If people can't see that then they're delusional and really haven't been paying attention.

Yep, Steelers need a complete overhaul, both in coaching personnel and philosophy/attitude.
The team/coaching needs confidence that they have the RIGHT plan, the RIGHT personnel, and the RIGHT coaching staff to bring it all together in order to be successful.
What we've been seeing is a rudderless team that, thanks to some key players, are able to have a little success but not enough to field a better then .500 team.
It's been pointed out here that this team is 'all smoke and mirrors' and I think that's very true. Having a winning record is VERY deceiving for this team and allows some complacency to set in which erodes confidence.
A new QB/HC/OC/DC alone isn't going to fix this disaster... Steelers need real LEADERSHIP from the top down.
I worry we're not going to get it anytime soon.

Jalen Hurts has had a top 3 OL in front of him his entire career so far. That has been a big piece of his success, he's a good QB but he still has a lot of games where I'm not completely sold. On the bright side, at least we didn't draft Malik Willis.

The only answer Omar and Andy can feel good about would be to hire an OC without Tomlin's input, pull Tomlin into their office, and tell him to leave the guy alone (don't even talk to him) or he is fired!

We were all patting ourselves on the back thinking Chase could be rookie of the year.....critics were saying.....those Steelers, how do they keep finding these great receivers in the draft? I would say most of Steelers fans thought they had an all pro guy for the next 5+ years.

Meanwhile Jalen was getting crucified in Eagle land his first couple seasons. Can you imagine?
Man oh Man......if we could do it all over again 😎😎👍

Jumppool came out and had one helluva season his rookie year. Fans were calling him Mapletron, but memories are short around here.

If Ben couldn't run a Canada offense, how can a 2nd year guy? Kenny may very well be shell-shocked at this point. Drafting a rookie would net us a zero on drafting Kenny in the first, but would be a first step in admitting we can make mistakes.

That could even lead to addressing the largest mistake in the locker room.

And Brock Purdy was on the clock for six more rounds after Pickett in 2022.

Kenny pickett is going to be back for two more seasons, and be the starter at least next year.
Virtually all these criticisms are fair, but uncannily mirror the early kirk cousins critiques.
Cousins took four or five seasons to develop and ultimately left immediately after developing.

I am fine with them taking another QB the year after next.. but unless tgere is a HC change, tge new qb will be trained to be extra careful with throws, particularly end zone ones… he will maybe be marginally better.. maybe not…

I really wish we would trade the next three first round picks for brock purdy so he could come here and suck out loud so people can really understand that in football, coaching and scheme trumps almost everything… because our issues there are great… and there are many

That's the thing. You bring Purdy here and he sucks ***. San Francisco obviously has their **** together in scheme, scouting and development.

The Steelers will need a drastic change in the way they approach offense along with some big personnel moves if they want to salvage Kenny's career next year. As of today, he's not it. He doesn't have as much pressure as people claim and doesn't take advantage of the situations when he has time. As we see nearly every week, including last week with Browning, bad QBs shine every so often. Pickett has one complete game in his career and it wasn't anything spectacular, just a solid game.

I know that other QBs haven't and likely won't succeed in this offense either, however, do I think Pickett can reach his maximum potential on this team? As of now, no. The offense doesn't allow it and the head coach doesn't allow it.

Let's watch Miych Trubisky who has 6 years of NFL experience and see how he does. There is a helm of a lot of nit picking in that video. I saw Ben miss guys like that all the time.

And Brock Purdy was on the clock for six more rounds after Pickett in 2022.
And yet no one took him until SF...with their last pick. Flip-flop them from team to team.....who is doing better? Purdy in Pittsburgh? Or Pickett in SF?
