Okay, I’m driving in my car listening to sports radio and First Things First is on with Nick Wright. He’s kind of annoying with his Mahomes crush. But they segue to an AFC North preview. I almost wrecked the car when I heard Wright predict the Steelers winning the division. His order:

4. Browns
3. Ravens
2. Bengals
1. Steelers

I agree with Wright.

its kinda weird... this team has a different feel to it than in years' past.
our offense may click with Kenny being a year older with his rookie season behind him, with Najee not injured and our WRs being solid... but our OL. daaaaaaamn. we gots some beefy boys up there and they can all block. With Green gone... even better. Then we have Muth who can kill on the short game and Washington who will not be seen as a rookie for too long.

Defensively ... where do you start??? a solid roster on paper just oozing with talent.

Wright also believes that Kenny will take a big step forwards this year.

I was just impressed that he put them over Burrow and the Bengals.

It was the best, most complete preseason I've ever observed as a Steeler fan. O and D are spot on, but we're forgetting Danny Farmer's Special Teams. They look special this year as well. Good returners with Austin on PR and McFarland on KR. Excellent kick coverage teams. PH3 finally becoming the weapon he was drafted to be, and Boz is Boz, just the 2nd best kicker in the NFL/AFC/and division just behind Tucker.

A 3 phase team will always beat a great 1 phase or 2 phase team. This is why we lost to NE in 2001, because their ST was exceptoinal. Look out NFL, Steelers are back, hungry, polished, and ready to kick some ***!

Love the optimism and share it as well. I have to wait and see who “Bubbles” actually ends up with on special teams. Some of those “Ace/s” just may be gone.

Salute the nation

Danny Farmer. from 4th round pick in 2000 to old gum chewing man in 2023.

Good teams have a lot of good players; great teams have great players in key spots. The Steelers defense has great players at DE, OLB, and FS. They added a player who was very recently great in Patrick Peterson. That is four potential HOF players - FOUR. The team also greatly upgraded ILB both in talent and depth.

Those are the reasons why I believe this defense is going to be ELITE.

Wright also believes that Kenny will take a big step forwards this year.

That is a bold strategy, Cotton, but I am curious to see how healthy Burrow is. Calf injuries can be really difficult to overcome and can be a semi-chronic problem. In the North, an immobile QB is a QB who is going to take a LOT of hits.
