yeah I know a jackass wrote this story

but he IS board Admin so be nice

and Larry is right..Hines is a HOF player

He absolutely is… sure there were flashier Wrs, but he was incredibly productive, played his first six years with Kordell and maddox on a team that was primarily a running team until 2008, and his contributions to that running team are legendary… plus he finished with hall worthy numbers for his era

I'll go a step further and say what I always say about Ward and that is you cannot tell the story of the NFL during his era without Hines Ward. He had two seasons with 975 yards receiving (played in 15 and 14 games in each of those seasons). If he plays all 16 and has 25 more yards, that would bring him up to eight 1,000 yard seasons. He was productive in a run-first offense, showed up bigtime in the playoffs, and set a physical tone from the wide receiver position that no one has matched since. Hines Ward was one of the faces of the franchise and a face of the NFL for a decade and should be in the Hall of Fame.

Larry!! you are correct sir

Don't forget that there was a RULE change due to his play, the Ward Rule. When the game is changed due to a player, there should be strong consideration for HOF induction.

Anytime you do so well at your job that it creates a rule change. You did something significant.

I agree emphatically he should be in. It may be sooner now, since they increased the amount of HOF enshrines each year.

So Coach might get in by 3155 ?

Hus enshrinement will be due to his "day old" draft picking ability/

Ward is fighting the backlog at WR… it’s getting better… he is going to reach lynn swann or art monk status soon, where he is the older wr that deserves to be in and the narratives keeping him out wear down in time…

He busted his *** on every play.
He was the first. There had never been a WR like him, nor has there been one since he retired.
Add that to his numbers and you have a no brainer HOF'er.

Hey! A no brainer Hall of Famer!

I'm a poet and didn't even know it!

What I like about Hines is he took what meant to a Steeler and redefined it for himself and became a legend… it’s one thing to become a star another to become a legend. They will be taliking about hines’ blocking and his game long after we are all gone. He belongs in the HOF and just as he belonged in the black n gold!! GoSteelers!

100% he belongs in the HOF. It ticks me off that "he was the best blocking WR in the game " doesn't get considered when his name gets voted on.

Hines Ward was an athlete that truly recognized his assets and played to him. He wasn't a receiver. He was a receiver, tight end, lineman, linebacker and whatever he needed to be in the moment. Maybe not the most talented guy, he made up for it in droves with hard work, playing pissed off, willing to get dirty and did it all with a smile.

Hines Ward, in many ways, was the American dream: blue collar, cap and pail kind of guy that went to work every day with the knowledge that he might not be the most talented dude but he was going to be the best and anyone that got in front of him was going to find that out the hard way.
