Flying in for my first Steeler game ….

Be good to see Saturday evening. You can hit the strip district before the game. They have decent eats and drinks if you wish. Also there is Steelers products galore. Also you can hit a tailgate close to the stadium they always have food and drinks.

After really depends on who is with you.

But I got you Saturday night and before the game, enjoy. 😉

If your in Market Square as Slash suggested and you want to get something to eat, Pizzaiolo has a decent bar and Italian food. The oyster house is an iconic old Pittsburgh bar in Market square with cool old photos and decent fish sandwich. There's a pirmantis in the square I believe as well. Strip district has D'Anoias restaurant which I think is one of the better Italian restaurants in Pittsburgh. Might be hard to get in at this late time. The gnocchi in bread bowl is killer. Plenty of nice restaurants around Strip district.

Look up best sports bars or best bars in downtown Pittsburgh, will give you some ideas and figure out what meets your style. Plenty of bars near stadium, you can also search the internet for a list.

And definitely hit the sporting goods stores around Heinz and PNC. Bought a Bettis jersey for my daughter, my Polamalu jersey, Steelers baseball hat and Steelers socks, all for reasonable cost. Problem with buying gear outside of the greater Pittsburgh area is the selection is very limited and the stuff is expensive.

I think the Bettis jersey was on sale for something like $39. Okay, it is a small because my daughter is petite but $39 is $39.

Lifelong fan coming to my first game this weekend. Staying downtown, what should we do Saturday night? Also, where is the best place to go before and after the game.
Heinz History Center and Sports Museum in the Strip on Saturday afternoon if you have time. Primanti's in the Strip tends to be lined up out the door on game weekends, the Primanti's in Market Square is less crowded. Pro tip, pass on the steak sandwich that they push and get the corned beef or pastrami.

I always liked riding up the Incline and walking at night to observe the city skyline. You can also see the football and baseball stadiums. They use to have them lit up the night before the game (do they still do that?)

Or go to Peppi's for a kick arse Big Wheeler.

It’s me and a good friend. It’s also his birthday.

Thanks. It’s me and one of my good friends. We are both former coaches and it’s also his birthday.

Yep still do. That one is delicious too.

I had that one in 2006 when I was there.

It was great but that was in the middle of BEN-Mainia

Enjoy the game and experience Clv! Brings back memories of my first trip there.
Not sure how much time you have. My Son and I walked across Saturday morning after having breakfast early in the strip district. Just walking past PNC park to Heinz field was pretty surreal for me. Looking at the statues, the scene before all the crowds of football Sunday. Plus getting the lay of the land, kind of preparing us for Sunday.
Downtown becomes alive on the weekend before a game....you’ll have no shortage of people to BS with.
What a great time.....hopefully the weather cooperates with you. What hotel are you in?

Too late in the season for original poster, but we coincided with Pitt games both times. Cheered for Pitt, but wasn't invested heavily. good reason to get in the stadium. I remember first time, literally felt like a kid at Disney. Seeing the things that I'd seen so many times on TV. All the great moments. If you are an out of town Steelers fan and have means I could not recommend it more highly. Wife is of Greek decent. There is a real **** hole Greek restaurant next to a souvenir shop just before you get to I think the Clemente Bridge. They had some damn good authentic Greek food. almost as good as my Mother in law's.

Not sure how you are planning to get to the stadium, but walking to the stadium across the Clemente bridge with the thousands of others was an unexpected highlight. Also walking along the river. The views were fantastic and Pittsburgh itself is such a walkable city. Really beautiful. These guys and gals that can see any game they want without spending thousands don’t realize how lucky they are!
