Steelers 2026 free agents

The Steelers are slated to have 22 free agents this offseason. Here's the full list that is headlined by quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

  • WR Calvin Austin
  • S Chuck Clark
  • S Kyle Dugger
  • DL Daniel Ekuale
  • CB Tre Flowers
  • RB Kenneth Gainwell
  • TE Connor Heyward
  • LB Cole Holcomb
  • S Miles Killebrew
  • DL Isaiahh Loudermilk
  • DL Dean Lowry
  • C Ryan McCollum (RFA)
  • WR Scotty Miller
  • DL Esezi Otomewo (RFA)
  • OL Andrus Peat
  • S Jabrill Peppers
  • QB Aaron Rodgers
  • G Max Scharping
  • G Isaac Seumalo
  • WR Adam Thielen
  • QB Skylar Thompson
  • P Corliss Waitman
Personally,I can see 3 -4 players I would be semi- serious about.

I think Gainwell deserves a good offer, but I also think the league saw what he can do and someone will overpay.
Edit….i put down Peppers…brain fart on me. I meant Asante Samuel Jr. who I thought was a FA?
While he had a horrible playoff game,I would offer Isaac a contract.
Kyle Dugger an offer.
My surprise offer would be to Adam Thielan for a one year contract. I watched the WR’s closely. He gave great effort, did all the little things right and I believe would be a good veteran presence in the locker room. Obviously he’s not your top 3.

1. Gainwell
2. Dugger (because our Safety situation will be even shittier without him)
3. Thompson
4. Austin (because I'll move him to the slot where he belongs)

Any of the others can be added later if needed.

Waitman can be replaced since the incoming staff will not have any loyalty to hold overs.

I move forward with Howard and Thompson at QB, with an eye on drafting one late.

I also make the LT up for grabs between Cook and Jones. Whichever loses that battle moves to LG.

Like your thinking @Superman .

Dugger did have a few lapses in coverage on Monday. Outside of JPJ and Ramsey, everyone in the secondary should be scrutinized pretty heavily, giving Kirk a franchise record is horrible.

I love the QB path. I am a YUGE Will Howard fan, I truly think he is the future, but both Skylar and Will are great for a #1 and #2.

There was some outside interest in Seumalo before Monday's game, not sure that interest will still be there, warranted. He got pan-caked Monday night, embarrassing outside of a starting rookie.

KG is an obvious re-sign, but like mentioned, might be too hard to re-sign that dude, unfortunately.

- agree that Gainwell is a difficult one, he will probably want to test FA and surely someone will overpay, plus you have a 3rd round pick buried in the depth chart and Warren on a decent contract. While it's true none of them can offer the pass catching abilities of KG, I think Warren has good enough hands to be the 3rd down option.
- No on Peppers if it's more than vet min
- Yes on Dugger
- Seumalo only on a cheap contract, time to search for his future replacement
- Thielen will go to a theoretical playoff team, that's why he jumped ships before and will do it again
- keep Otomewo
- keep McCollum
- vet min for Holcomb?
- CA3 offer a WR3 two year contract. It should work for him as he can test FA again at a young age if he blows up.
- Keep Ekuale

Gainwell is the only player I would spend another dime on from this group.

*FLUSH*

As we seem to be rushing out of the gate looking at LA Ram co-ordinators, it is possible that they may look at the Rams free agents (which appears to be, in my opinion, a much better list - barring Nick Vannet and Akello Witherspoon):

  • RT Rob Havenstein
  • WR Tutu Atwell
  • TE Tyler Higbee
  • S Kamren Curl
  • QB Jimmy Garoppolo
  • LT DJ Humphries
  • CB Roger McCreary
  • RT David Quessenberry
  • TE Nick Vannett
  • LS Jake McQuaide
  • CB Ahkello Witherspoon
  • LB Troy Reeder
  • RB Ronnie Rivers
  • CB Cobie Durant
  • DE Keir Thomas
  • CB Derion Kendrick
  • K Joshua Karty
  • S Quentin Lake
  • WR Xavier Smith
  • C Justin Dedich
  • K Harrison Mevis
There isn't much outside of Kenneth Gainwell and Miles Killebrew that we can't live without.

  • WR Calvin Austin - maybe for near the vet minimum (easy out)
  • S Kyle Dugger - had highs and lows, but if he's a depth player, that's fine
  • RB Kenneth Gainwell - yes, 2-3 year deal
  • TE Connor Heyward - yes, but minimum contract (easy out)
  • LB Cole Holcomb - I didn't get a feel for his recovery
  • S Miles Killebrew - I could go either way, they have some good special teams players and may want better depth at safety
  • C Ryan McCollum (RFA) - sure
  • WR Scotty Miller - at least a camp invite
  • DL Esezi Otomewo (RFA) - yes, as bottom-of-the-depth chart player
  • P Corliss Waitman - yes, but with a legit challenger

Killebrew will be gone in my opinion we have some guys who can do what he did like Bruener and Skow. Hard to say until we see who we have coaching. They may want to go a whole different direction in many cases. Guys they know and can help teach their system.

and Skow can actually play as the 5th WR, very willing blocker.
