For as good as the Steelers Defense has been in recent weeks they looked like complete crap tonight sticking with the tradition of Terrible Tomlin on Thursday Night Football. Mike Tomlin on the road on Thursday Night Football is now 1-8 and the Steelers haven't won on the road on Thursday Night Football since Week 15 of the 2007 season when they beat the St. Louis Rams 41-23. Seeing Joe Flacco absolutely shred the Steelers Defense tonight after being with the Bengals team for 8 full days is just downright embarrassing.

Offensively they played good enough to win this game despite 2 turnovers by Rogers he kept this team right in the game tonight with his 4 TD's. Jaylen Warren had a great game and the O-line really opened up some holes in the Bungles Defense with their JUMBO packages. The offense took the opening drive in for the TD by Jonnu Smith. The Steelers seemed set to take a 14-0 lead on a TD run by Warren that was called back on a Holding Penalty and then the offense went to sleep for the rest of the first half while the Bengals scored 17 unanswered points to take the 17-10 lead at the Half. Back and forth the Steelers and Bungles went in the 2nd Half....as Pittsburgh would cut the lead to one score the Bungles would extend it to 2 scores. With the game on the line....the Steelers up 31-30 it was all on the Defense and they couldn't get a stop when it mattered most.....costing the Steelers a 33-31 Defeat in the Jungle of Cincy. When you score 31 points in a game you should win the damn game but this wasn't enough tonight.

Bungles have a QB who's been on the roster a full 8 days and the worst running game in the NFL averaging 56 yards rushing per game......The Steelers Defense says "HOLD MY BEER" and goes out today and takes a giant **** on the field tonight! The Bungles scored on 7 of 8 drives to end this game after a dismal first quarter. The only drives the Steelers managed to force the Bungles to punt was when the Bungles receivers dropped throws on 3rd down. The Bungles ran for 142 yds & Flacco faced little to no pressure tonight throwing for 342 yds & 3 TD's. As early as the 2nd Quarter we saw the Bungles start running these post corner routes to Higgins & Chase and they kept doing it the entire game right down to the last drive and the Steelers Defense had no answer for it. No adjustments at Halftime and no adjustments in the 2nd Half to take those routes away. I can't even remember more than 3 splash plays from the Defense tonight.....the sacks by Benton & Watt and maybe Chuck Clark tackling the RB after the ball was throw to him for a 6yd loss. The Defense had nothing tonight! Pretty pathetic to find a worse Defensive effort than tonight. This Defense might be worse than last season.....I'm almost sure of it. My stats sheet shows 0 tackles for TJ Watt tonight. PATHETIC!

Make no mistake about it.....this Steelers team needs a solid #2 WR and they better make a trade quick before the Nov 4th trade deadline. I don't care when Calvin Austin returns he is not a capable #2 WR. We had a capable #2 WR and we traded the kid to Dallas and he's proving he's not only capable of being a #2 WR but he's done a great job filling in for CeeDee Lamb. Safe to say they made a big mistake letting Pickens go. Just imagine if Chuck Noll had traded Mean Joe Greene due to his bad attitude in his early years.

Per Tomlin's Post Game:
No injuries to report

Game Balls:
Jaylen Warren - 127 yds rushing, 4 rec 31 yds
Pat Freiermuth - 5 rec, 111 yds 2 TD's

Game Goats:
Entire Steelers Defense - Absolute TRASH the entire game! Bunch of Slack Jawed ******* gave up 142 yd rushing to the worst rushing team in the NFL

FU's:
FU to Mike Tomlin for tossing around Joe Flacco's name this week.....giving the Bungles bulletin board material! Keep your ******* mouth SHUT!
Teryl Austin - Your a terrible Defensive Coordinator or Defensive St00ge for Tomlin to blame all his short comings on. Which one is it?

It could be done in most games, but a FU to the officiating crew once again, no calls or phantom calls all, for the most part, going against the B&G.

Well, we did have a number two receiver tonight, Freiermuth. Say we had Pickens and he had Freiermuth’s production, there’s only so many balls to go around. I don’t disagree that an another consistent wide receiver is needed but the production tonight from our offense should have been enough.

The real problem as you stated is this defense, we do not have a shut down corner, Slay should be benched but this organization will never admit they made a mistake in signing him. The only reason I don’t include Porter is he’s only in his third season. This front seven was unable to stop the run nor pressure the QB, how is that even possible even on short rest against this particular opponent.

We had trouble stoping the worst team in the league on opening day and the Patriots only stopped themself. And the Browns, a midget first year QB drafted day 3 (I think) in his second NFL game and everyone is slobbering all over themselves about how good the defense looked. Watt disappears “again,” what is it now, 4 sacks in his last 13 games including the playoffs, maybe 5. The one thing Belicheat did well beside cheating is when stars reached 30 (except Brady) and were looking for another big contract, he traded them for another younger player or draft picks.

And I don’t have time and everyone’s covered it anyway regarding the pathetic coaching, bullheadingly doing the same thing over and over, totally unprepared and unable to adjust.

They do this every year and every year we
lament how they get our hopes up knowing full well they’ll be dashed.

Rooney has to hear the same pre season historic rhetoric and actually see what’s going on but I truly believe his agenda is not what you would expect as the over riding priority should be.

This organization is a mess, they’re not rebuilding and they’re not improving bringing these new old faces in year after year, they’re stagnant, They refuse to admit they’re a team in decline, they pretend or actually believe which is worse that they’ve built a team that can contend when any dolt like myself can watch real contenders and see how far the Steelers trail in every meaningful category from the owner to the coach to the players.

I have been surprised by the O so far this year. Yes they can be inconsistent, but they are head and shoulders above what they have been for years. I think they get better over the season. Warren has proven that he can get it done to help out. Rodgers is playing better than I expected. Sure he had 2 TO’s, but he also had 4 TD’s and the drive at the end that should have been enough.

The D is exactly the same as it has been since Tomlin got full control. Flacco didn’t do anything special, he just has years of experience against the MT “special”. He knows they don’t cover the middle of the field because they have to use the LB’s to fill the hole created by only using 2 or sometimes even 1 DL.

You really get this feeling. Have I been here before......it's groundhog day. Zero pressure. Stood there like a statue. What a joke.

Id make argument about Pickens. Comparing his three years of antics to Mean joe is laughable. And only way it won't blow up in Cowboys face is if it was all an act to get away from Tomlin.

You can pretty much count on Tomlin's teams laying an egg at least once or twice a year against teams they should beat. They show up unprepared and play unmotivated and the coaching staff never appears to make any changes during the game to fix it.

It wasn't perfect. but the offense played well enough to win the game last night. Warren was running great and had big holes, but only 16 carries. The OL was giving Rodgers lots of time and Rodgers kept the team from losing this game by 30 points. Rodgers should have a game ball in my opinion (4 TDs to 4 different players). He had the one bad throw for the int deep, but the second int was a fantastic throw to DK who allowed a midget player half his size to strip the ball from him going to the ground.

100% this loss was on the defense, Tomlin, and DC....AGAIN!
Dline was weak, Watt and Highsmith were manhandled like true pussys. Secondary was clueless, definitely not coached up.

Biggest knock on the offense was the deep ball play call after the defense gave up a 72 yard TD drive
No way, No how do you call that play...with 4:30 minutes to half, you control the ball and drive, especially after the defense just got beat down.
Drive and get at least a FG, Go into half leading 13-7 min.! Once again, poor coaching, set the team up to fail on both sides.
Bengals go on to score with ease, huge swing in the game for no reason

Holding call on Frazier really hurt on Warrens TD run too!

TNF, mediocre to bad team, win and control the AFC North, offense humming...Tomlin and defense say NOPE! Truly embarrassing!

They weren’t playing all that well except for splash. Going into the game, they were 16th in PPG and 25 in YPG, those both going down after last night.

Worst part is, this is an old defense and they’re done with the soft part of the schedule. This isn’t getting better.

if Rooney cared, he'd have an appointment with Tomlin early this morning. He'd have a life-sized cutout of Ja'Marr Chase in his office and ask Tomlin repeatedly "Do you recognize this mfker?" because last night, he sure as hell couldnt see Chase running up and down the field.

Chase just got another reception as I typed that.

The abstract idea of putting our slowest and oldest CB on arguably the best WR in the game and leaving him in man coverage is one that should be studied with crayons and plastic spoons.

Anyone seen TJ? At one point, he had a whole solid QB pressure... and that was up until his late game half sack. Oh, and Cam... bitched moaned and cried for a new contract while inhaling turkey legs and adding girth... needs his pic placed on the side of a bucket of KFC. Completely missing.

This is what our high priced defense got you last night:

If last night was any indication, we saw a changing of the guards. While Flacco is old, he can still see over the OL and find wide open WRs. Years ago, Higgins would have done what Muth did - ran into the end zone and scored a TD while leaving time on the clock. The fact that Higgins slid and Muth did not, changes everything.

Ramsey only made 1.78 million last night for the pleasure of covering WR’s
T.J only made 2,334,000 last night.
Not too shabby.

Game balls:
Jaylen Warren - he continues to be our best player on offense

Pat Freiermuth - way to stay engaged, huge game.

Aaron Rodgers - sure he had two INTs, but overall he played terrific and had 4 TDs

Goats:
The entire defense - putrid

FUs
Mike Tomlin - another awful Thursday night performance and has the team right on track for a borderline playoff finish

Pat Meyer - permanent fixture on here

Teryl Austin - I don’t care if he’s the assistant DC, that performance was dreadful

Every highly paid defender - make plays like you’re paid to do, they have to overcome scheme because that’s how this team is coached.

I know Rodgers threw 2 picks, but they didn't hurt us that badly. The problem in this game was Tomlin and the D. Make no mistake, that was Tomlin calling the D and making no adjustments at halftime. They couldn't stop the run or the pass. The Bungholes have a terrible rushing O, but they ran on us at will. They pulled Flacco in, and with a very scaled-back playlist, he torched the D. It was as embarrassing as it gets.

A new wrinkle I saw Tomlin deploy was he had Heyward and possibly Benton on the DE's, and then he had Queen and Wilson in the middle on the ilne. It's bad enough putting the OLB's on the line so much, but he put the even smaller ILB's on the line, and they got blown up in the plays I saw. This is all Tomlin, but Austin will be the scapegoat.

This team will end up 9-8 or 10-7 at the very best. If they had won that game (which they should have), they would have been in great position in the division and good position in the AFC. Now, they will be lucky to win any of their next few games against good teams.

It was all smoke and mirrors the last 2 weeks, and we now see how bad the Steelers D is once again.

I mean, where the F were Watt, Highsmith, and Herbig? None of them were getting close to the QB or making any kind of impact on the game. I can only think this was poor scheming by Tomlin and not all 3 sucking at the same time. Heyward looked fat and slow. Father time may have caught up with him.

Just pitiful performance by Tomlin and HIS D.

Game Balls:

Offensive line. Opened huge holes all night and kept Rodgers clean for a 2nd week in a row

Arthur Smith: 2 outstanding games in a row for his play calling and schemes

Friermuth. Huge day, not sure how much it had to do with the Bengals defensive being terrible, but kudos to him for being ready when his name is called

Game Goats: Entire defense, special mention to Porter, Slay, and Ramsey who couldn’t cover 1 on 1 to save their lives tonight.

It’s kind of scary to think how bad Joe Flacco and the Sam Darnold (competent but far from elite QBs) made us look. The other QBs we have thrived on for wins are bottom of the barrel. What will the better QBs on the schedule coming up that’s going to get tougher do to this defense….

FU: Thursday night football. The Steelers have no excuse for how they played but it’s a crap product leading to badly played games and unnecessary injury risk. Pure money grab, I bet most Thursday night games get terrible ratings

They are who I thought they were, fools gold.
The defense is grossly overrated and very high priced. The defensive schemes are outdated and extremely predictable.
The offense to my surprise is being held together by Aaron Rodgers. Unfortunately he’s not going to be enough to get this team to where they want to go.
The coaching is second rate, outdated, stale, and absolutely zero innovation.
My prediction was 8-9 this summer and I think that will hold with maybe 9-8.
I wasn’t fooled and will point to the teams and QBs we’ve played to date. Not exactly the best bunch of QBs and teams.

Is Cam Heyward going for 400 lbs.? Jesus, he looked old and slow. I hope I'm wrong, but I am starting to wonder now that T.J. has his contract if he is just going through the motions. God, I am so tired of the Tomlin bullshit playing out the same year after year after ******* year.

The number of times they show a RB going wide and you see Heyward literally jogging out towards the sideline is just insane. If that is all he has left in the tank, park that car in the garage. Watching players jog around, a WR just stand and watch a DB get up and start running back an INT, and watching players make the same mistakes over and over and over, year after year just screams you have problems with leadership.

The defense was terrible. If you weren't a fan of this team, you would probably never know we have a defensive wizard at the helm. Didn't he say they were going to be historically good?
That and he said, "that they can cover anybody, no disrespect to the Bengals, but we can cover anybody". LOL He literally singled them out, HAHAHA.
