Well a good rebound for a Steelers team that has been reeling the past 2 weeks losing to the Bungles & Packers. Credit the Steelers Defense for creating the 6 turnovers in this one that made all the difference in the world in this game. I'm not sure what the Steelers did this week vs the past 2 weeks but early on I saw the Colts using the Post Corner routes over and under to exploit the Steelers Cover 2 Defense in the first quarter which is exactly how you beat a Cover 2 Defense. Steelers got good pressure on Jones for the last 3 quarters and they got their arms up defensively to bat balls and create turnovers. Was it the personnel change of having Jalen Ramsey at Safety? The Steelers Defense might actually be better back there with Ramsey at Safety. I still don't like seeing Darius Slay back there at CB.....almost wondering if he can play Safety along with Ramsey. I think the Steelers secondary is better with Pierre back there instead of Slay. Peyton Wilson has a spectacular game today.....best of his career. I still think the Steelers need to get Beanie Bishop on the active roster.

Offensively the Steelers offense was able to score points off the Colts turnovers and they did just enough to seal the win with no real standout performances on offense. DK Metcalf was practically invisible with 2 recs for 6 yds and no other receiver even managed 60 yds receiving. The running game was ineffective the entire game....22 carries 39 yards with the football. Absolutely pathetic performance from the offense when you think about it. Rogers was a bright spot for the offense as he went 25 for 35 with 1 TD. If you looked at the offensive stats at the end of this one and didn't know the final score you probably would have thought this game was a loss but 6 Colts turnovers really altered the outcome of this one.

This was a big win for the Steelers as they stay 2 games ahead of the Ratbirds. Steelers managed to make the Colts a one dimensional offense limiting Johnathan Taylor to 45 yds on the ground on 14 carries. That combined with 6 turnovers sealed the win for a reeling Steelers team that for this week looked like they could be a playoff contender. Next up a road game next Sunday night against the Chargers and the other Crybaugh coach!

Per Tomlin's Post Game:
Darius Slay - dislocated finger was able to return
Issac Seumalo - Pect injury wasn't able to return....will be evaluated this week

Game Balls:
Peyton Wilson - The past 2 weeks he has played very well. I think he's starting to find his groove at ILB. 14 tackles, 1 INT, 2 Passes Defensed
Cam Heyward - Not a big stat day but he was big up front creating pressure throughout the game....2 batted balls
Alex Highsmith - fought thru injury today....4 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble
Joey Porter Jr - 8 tackles, 4 passes defended, 1 INT
TJ Watt - When the guy isn't getting chipped or double teamed he's a force to be reckoned with. 1 sack, 1 forced fumble
Jalen Ramsey - 5 tackles today starting at Safety. Maybe the Steelers need to leave him at Safety.
Aaron Rogers - 25 for 35 for 203 yds 1-TD.....He led the Steelers offense to the win today.

Game Goats:
Roman Wilson - Good lord son.....stop trying to be the hero out there.....it will come just play it calm and cool! You can thank Joey Porter for bailing your *** out today!

FU's:
I got nothing!

Good writeup. Hats off to Wilson and Sawyer. A great splash plays.
That was kool as hell!!

gameballs: P. Wilson, Watt, Highsmith, Washinton, CAIII
Goats: Porter Jr. Had an int, but too many penalties again.
FUs: Indy coach. Cant blame him, but I think the Steelers took it personally

FU's:
I got nothing!
Tomlin using a TO on a 4th down attempt by the Bills. Bills convert the 4th down attempt to the middle of the field to a wide open WR. No defender near him. Happens it seems.every game anymore.

Game balls:
-Payton Wilson-best player on the field today for both teams.
-Darnell Washington-I thought he should've made a play on the two passes in the red zone early in the game, but he made a tough catch thrown behind him and helped move the chains.
-Austin/Tomlin-nice adjustments made from last week with blitzing and how they defended a very good offense. Turned Indiana Jones back into Danny Dimes.
-Tomlin-for playing more aggressive, he talked about having to score TDs to win (a few years late to this philosophy) and backed it up with play calls.

FUs:
-Tomlin-on here until he wins a playoff game.

FU’s as usual, the refs… on the long Colts 3rd down conversion, just before the Wilson deflection/Sawyer INT, Watt was dominating the right tackle and was bear hugged, both arms around his neck/shoulder area with no holding call? Was absolutely ridiculous! Thank goodness the ball doesn’t lie and the turnover immediately ensued.

Game ball… Danny Smith! Super heads up knowing the weird rule on kickoff about kickin out of bounds and ball being spotted 20 yards from spot of foul… apparently Colts should have actually started that drive from the 20, not 25.

Danny Smith is the best coach on this team.

The second pi against him was absolutely horse ****, Tyler Warren had his hand up on jpj's face mask pushing off...at the very least should have been off setting penalties...

Nah, the refs got that right. Typical kickoffs start at the 35. There was a 15 yard UC penalty so we got it at the 50 instead.

The KO out of bounds rule reads that if a KO goes out of bounds, the Receiving Team can opt to take it where it went OOB or 25 yards from the Kickoff line.

Typically, that would be the 40 yard line. Because we were kicking off at the 50, it was the 25 yard line.

The colts are one of the better KO return teams, it was a very heads up coaching decision.

Game balls:

Aaron-
staying on task and not turning the ball over like Danny Dimes, just out there doing his job
Warren-
Playing good situational ball, some key pass blocks and cashing the ball in when given the opportunity. Should have been used a bit more
CA3-
Our best WR out there today, good to have him back
Mount Washington-
Best hands catcher on the entire team with those big paws. Can pluck a ball out of the air better than any of the other receiving options and the team just plays better with him in there.
The pass rush-
Getting home and causing disruption or getting their hands up when they weren’t getting home. They made Danny’s clock speed up and forced turnovers
Our MVP- Boz doing what he does and KICKING A$$
The football itself- for bouncing our way EVERY time we needed it to, you were CLUTCH today!

FUs-
Roman Wilson- WTF kid, you tryna live in the dog house?
JPJ- bro, they’re watching you and always will if you don’t clean up that technique and stop grabbing people nearly every play. I’m surprised he wasn’t penalized more.
Tomlin- still found a way to keep the other squad in it even with 6 turnovers. A +5 in possessions and still managed his way to less TOP, his defense giving up 400+yards and keeping the Colts alive until the end. At least we found the magic number lays around 5-6 turnovers to beat a good team. I’m sure that will work soundly as a playoff strategy. The way they closed out the first half blew. Good thing every bounce of an oblong ball went your way today Mikey.

@Chicoman . Great write up!

Once again, it was actually FUN to watch a Stillers game!!! Defense was a 180 flip, I admit that I didn't believe a MT/Austin coached D wouldn't do it. Better now.

Aaron and the Offense was just 'good enough', not making terrible mistakes (WILSON!!!!) for the most part.
Where was DK? That guy has to be involved, but again love seeing the entire TE room involved! Mount Washington split out wide, awesome! Jaylen was great in blocking and receiving, whatever was needed.

Then there was the Defense, front 7 destroying the Colts offensive plan. Best Defensive performance I saw yesterday. Incredible! This time WILSON (P) was exactly where he was supposed to be, leading tacklers and making splash plays, Great Job! When Highsmith went out after 3 plays, limping, I thought "oh man, here we go again", but 56 sucked it up and had a great game! OLB room, INCREDIBLE!

Danny Smith and Boz - MVPs!!

That was old school Steelers and it looked incredible to watch!

Timmmyyyyyaaaahhh!!!

The Steelers are proving that they can beat anyone by 7 if they have a +5 TO differential.
Exactly. I’m not really excited by this win but I do have to say it was nice seeing Blitzburgh reborn, at least for one week. But winning by just a touchdown with a +5 turnover differential? Color me unimpressed. This game was a total anomaly. I’m expecting a return to the trash next week. Thrill me and trade for another good wideout.

Pass that kool aid

They had a nice performance from the front 7, but were also very fortunate with the way the ball bounced more than once and that is not sustainable relying on 6 takeaways every week.

Still lost TOP and gave up 400 yards even though they were +5 in TO margin

A timely performance, a fortunate game with some good situations and splash. That D was nowhere near dominant though. The secondary had room for days in the zones and the man wasn’t much better allowing 2 100 yard receivers.

A good win, but not a sustainable scheme towards any sort of consistent success.

If they are lucky enough to just get +20 TO margin in the AFC playoffs they could be contenders!!!!
Yipeee

It's a terrible way to play. You should never have any slack off and give them no hope of success.
It's a trade-off, giving them the underneath stuff knowing they'll run the clock down taking it. It prevents the big play quick strike. That said, I don't like it either.

Roman Wilson is just a kid trying too hard to earn playing time. I hope he doesn't get punished for it. I think he learned his lesson.

Oh i know what it is. It's just dangerous given their terrible tackling and letting 5 yards turn into 30. Which is what last week was all game and the Bengals game.

Anyhow. I'm more of don't change what you're doing just because you have a lead.

If the Steelers had been able to run the ball at all, it wouldn't have made me nervous, but they literally got nothing or losses most of the time.

Thankfully they got a bunch of pressure, turnovers, sacks and tackled very well for the most part. When that doesn't happen they're toast.

Now they'll have to do it again this week.

Exactly right @Fiji Mariner .

@ San Diego....errrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....Los Angelas will be a huge test for this team, particularly the Defense, in consistency. The Chargers have three very good receivers, so I would expect the secondary to have at least two PI calls and some big plays against them.

Aaron and Co. are going to have to convert and score.
