Goddard College chooses convicted cop killer Mumia Abu Jamal as commencement speaker

Convicted Philadelphia cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal has been selected as the commencement speaker for a Vermont college.

Goddard College announced that the infamous inmate will address its graduates at Sunday's ceremony.

Undergraduate students receiving their degrees selected Abu-Jamal as their commencement speaker, the Plainfield, Vt., school said.

Abu-Jamal was convicted in the 1981 slaying of Officer Daniel Faulkner and sentenced to death. The high-profile and long-running case was in the news for decades as Abu-Jamal fought the death penalty; the sentence was later reduced to life in prison without parole.

The degradation of our nation's "higher learning" institutions are still in full effect, it seems. That these people would be "honored" to have this criminal speak to them, is disgusting to me

Goddard College holds 20 commencement ceremonies every year, so students in each degree program can individualize their graduations and choose their speaker.
Undergraduates design their own curriculums with faculty advisers and do not take tests or receive grades, said college spokesman Dustin Byerly.
The students who chose Abu-Jamal as a speaker are receiving bachelor of arts or fine arts degrees. Twenty of the 23 students are expected to attend the ceremony.

Liberals tearing down the walls of education and common sense. Let the kids make up their own curriculum and don't grade it. This can't be an accredited college. It's just a paper factory. Those degrees are worth less than the paper their printed on.

Do they have a medical school or college of engineering? Remind me to check if my Doctor attended there of if any engineering firms locally have Goddard Alumni on staff and have designed bridges.

I'm guessing that these are not the most sought after college graduates.

Typical job interview now that this "curriculum" nonsense has hit the press.

Design your own cirriculum? Mine would have been the study of the female anatomy, horseshoes, and beer pong. Not sure how I would spin that in an interview unless I was a party organizer.
 
I saw the douchehammer who organized this speech. He is everything you would expect....small, mealymouthed, with a goatee and dreadlocks.....trying to speak softly so he can "hush" everyone into following his beliefs.
