Gun-Free Zone Fail

A Pennsylvania doctor saved his own life and possibly the lives of several others Thursday when he shot a gunman who was on a rampage in his office at Mercy Hospital in Darby, Pennsylvania.
Employees aren’t supposed to have firearms or other weapons at the hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman, but thankfully this doctor wasn’t complying. The Daily Mail reports:
Yeadon Police Chief Donald Molineux said that ‘without a doubt, I believe the doctor saved lives.’

‘When the caseworker was shot, (Silverman) crouched down behind the desk to avoid him being shot,’ Whelan said.

‘He was able to reach for his weapon, and realizing it was a life or death situation, was able to engage the defendant in the exchange of gunfire.’
The lesson here? Good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns. Gun-free zones are simply a target rich environment for those with evil intent.

News reporter on TV said that they didn't know why the doctor kept a gun in his desk. Duh.

Without getting all political, it doesn't make any logical sense whatsoever that declaring a place a gun free zone and advertising it as such will deter a criminal from bringing a gun in and shooting up the place. So the type of people who are willing and capable of shooting other people for the fun of it are going to be deterred by a sign warning them they could be cited for a weapons violation? Why don't put up a sign telling them to take back their library books on time while they are at it? It would have about the same effect. Makes perfect sense...because potential murderers are of course law abiding citizens and would totally respect that rule.
