So, 32-year-old Joe Haden, on the last year of his current 2 year contract wants an extension. He has been playing well but at that age, he could slow down at any point. What would you do? I'd like to see him retire as a Steeler but a contract would have to be very team-friendly with an easy out if he does lose his wheels after this year.

No way.

He's looked like he lost half a step last year, though he was still decent.

Plus, they have talented younger guys like Sutton and James Pierre, who looks like he can be a really good one.

I know before his last contract, many were saying move him to safety. Not sure what that would gain us.

At least he said, he knows that Watt comes first and then to him and Fitz

Haden was playing on a 2 year, $11 million per contract. He won't get anywhere near that if he wants an extension. Maybe half that per year.. It will all depend on how he plays this year, I guess.

I would be ok turning his current salary into bonus and giving him an extension which can easily be cut at any given season if he is not performing. But I would not stick anything more than what we have invested for 2021. If he plays 2 more seasons I’d be EXTREMELY surprised.

So Nelson wanted an extension and we cut him. Now Haden. Wonder what will happen here. 🤔

Nothing as HADEN isn't demanding but just asking. He knows what is realistic and he saw what happened to Nelson when he went overboard. Joe will not go the road Nelson traveled. He may get an extention and may not but he will honor his contract.

Maybe extend by 1 year and push some of this years salary into next year. we have the cap space next year. then take the cap savings from this year and add that into the multi million deal TJ is going to get.

I remember Ike Taylor his last few years. Hopefully Haden doesn't go out like that

After watt sign him 2 years maybe if Edmunds doesn’t improve Haden can play a year until either brooks or a rookie vis ready

Love Haden. Had Chris Carter from the Locked on Steelers Podcast as my guest today. We talked about Haden, and he correctly assessed that Joe Haden is a technical CB, not a speed QB. It's a safer investment to keep him over a burner on the outside. Plus he does have the ability to shift to FS with his football IQ. Not sure if he'd be a good SS, but find a way to split the in the box work between he and Fitz and they will both be happy!

That would be a B.😁 ...... G53

You fail to see the deeper meaning of all this print. In my spirit world things are the same yet different. It can be confusing but then sometimes I'm not sure wich world I am in. Occasionally I must rely on my handiness behind the wheel of a LUXURY S10 to not only save me but to drive me home as well. Sometimes I am at home yet still in the spirit world so nothing can be taken for granted. As of rigt now I can comunicate through typing and this board yet not speak a word.
