Has there ever been a team so inept at gaining a yard or less, no matter the down? I seriously can't think of any and this is year in and year out under Tomlin. Opposing teams make that yard with relative ease against us so I know it can be done.

I have an idea, don't run up the middle on those plays. Maybe being predictable is a bad thing.

There is one team that runs an extremely successful play on 4th and short. You'd think we'd try to copy it and master it.

That and we still seem to have a major aversion to sending our big guys into the endzone at one time and throwing to them. They did try one to Washington but they luckily got the PI call. We get inside the 20 and even the 10 and we run on 1st and 2nd down and are forced to throw on 3rd. Get creative. Throw the damn ball. Roll Russ out to give him the option to run. Anything but the same crap we do week in and week out. We have blamed the OC's but it keeps happening. This is all 100% on Tomlin. I actually hope Smith leaves for the Jets HC job. Putting 3 TE's on the field as much as he does is just crazy especially when we still can't gain a few feet for a first down even when given 3 cracks at it. Just put all of your OL in the game at once with one in the backfield to either lead block or push Russ or the RB from behind. I was a Tomlin supporter for so long but the last few years, no more. He IS the common denominator. He IS the PROBLEM!

I’ve heard there is a lead blocker position some teams employ called a fullback!!!

I ain’t talking a Connor Heyward or Derek Watt can’t block for **** hybrid ST player…Dan Krieder mold. It’s also ok to use things like play action or get under center on short yardage too.

All very simple concepts a long term HC should be aware of.

The predictability of our actions makes a 4th &1 look like 4th &9
