Herbig

Yeah they basically took a Lawrence Timmons type, but in the 4th, not 1st. He shouldn't have been on the board even with his size concerns (yeah he's 6'2 but height doesn't concern me, pre combine weigh in he was being listed at 228lbs. He weighed in at 240lbs, I'm less concerned about his size anymore) due to his production and athleticism. If he makes it at OLB, win, we get our 3rd OLB that can spell and be productive and even provide a spark. If he has to move to ILB, win, we get a young, smart, and athletic guy to develop at ILB that could reach a Timmons ceiling. I'm good with the pick either way it works out for him and it's a win win for us

Wondering what the plan is with him. He seems like a stud, fast, all over the field, great football smarts, but small. I bet he would make a great ILB, even the mike, and maybe even a FS.

Thoughts?

Herbig may be slightly small but he plays big. It's in his name.

Not trying to compare Herbig to Bush but the Bushy is like 5’11” 230 right? And we drafted him number 10. I know, he is an ILBer but still, pretty small compared to Herbig at 6’2” 240, no?

Agreed....but if he is 240....I identify as 6'3 - 225

You should have stressed "to" . Someone might read that as Herbig Bush.

Herbig is versatile, I think they'll use him inside but occasionally move him outside to relieve Watt and Highsmith.

wasnt watt listed as 2in taller and 20plus more at combine? Give the kid a chance to get some mwag on him. I like the pick at the round for sure

I love the pick exactly where they picked him. Give it time as we will find out soon enough as to his ability. Comparing him to a shaved bush isn’t going to change anything other than he himself might start shaving………….

He’s got a lot of honey badger in him once the ball’s snapped. as they say in my beloved corp he’s all elbows n azzholes looking for it! Where the ball is he is so is he… “inside line backer” “outside linebacker” are just words to him he just gets after it I think he and db trice are really intriguing prospects on defense i think both with earn some playing time! GoSteelers!

I think next to the C we got in the seventh round, he probably has the biggest total bust potential of the lot. He is still a good gamble, but guys his size don’t always translate to the pros… if they do it’s basically free money… but even if not he should at least be a decent special teams player….

Thanks for posting that Coolie, awesome !!!!!

I think he may have the best chance of all of our picks to outperform the round picked by a large margin. The film I have watched is eerily similar to another Badger on the roster. Dare we hope to have Badger lightning strike twice? Second in this category is Tice who I think could, if he is healthy and works hard, eventually end up a starter opposite Porter. He could also not make the squad. I would list the new TE here as well but I am not sure I have enough faith in Canada to use him properly or enough with Muth in two TE sets.

Steelers ran a lot more 2-TE sets after the bye and that was with Gentry as 2nd TE. With Washington, I expect 2-TE 30% to 40% of offensive plays. It should become their base offensive set. Harris or Warren at RB, Freiermuth, Washington at TE, Pickens, DJ at WR as base set.

Does Canada use Washington as a primary target? We'll see. I am pretty sure Kenny is going to look for a receiver 6'7", 265 lbs. and with good hands.
