By: Sean McGeown SteelerNation.com Players and fans everywhere can’t wait for the start of training camp. Although it was just announced that for the first time in over 50 years the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be holding their annual training camp at St Vincents’ College in Latrobe, PA, the hype hasn’t gone anywhere, especially with the […]

Thanks Sean. would indeed like to see Cam extended and retire here.
Dupree deal would have to be done by July 15 (i think that is the day) or he has to play under the tag this year.

Ideally we need both resigned but we will see what happens. I am sure Heyward will be done no doubt about it.

cam doesnt seem optimistic, some say his extension will come don to him vs juju. Until dupree is not extended it wont free up cap room, to allow a back loaded 2-3 deal extension for Cam.
who can we ask for pay cuts to free up

we have so far re worked Bos, Vance and Haden, if AV or MP can take a paycut that could help

If it came down to Juju seeya Juju. I don't take it as Cam not seeming optimistic he just sounds like most players in the final year of their contract.I think he is simply taking the wait and see approach. His play isn't declining so I don't see him being shown the door. You don't show D captains the door especially ones who aren't at the end of their career..yet.

you can tag juju as well and restructure a lower extension by cutting AV aiming to draft LT rnd with a short term vet signed incase the raftee does not win the job, you also will have Chukes entering a contract year to play LT. AV is clear in decline his knee bend and kick out off the snap is not the same, Garrett for the past fe w years has gotton the best of him as have Cincy edge rushers 6"7 310 OT who are finesse need to be quicker vs guys like Garrett,, Johnson and Lawson.

Cam is going nowhere. When was the last time the Steelers let a team leader, that was top-5/10 at his position, who works his butt off and is great in the community, go to another team?
JuJu may price himself out of the Burgh.

Dupree is not getting signed. Watt will cost too much for Dupree to be considered at the rate he will command.

This.....Heyward has gotten BETTER over the years, too. He’s not just a “run-stuffing, lineman-occupying” d-lineman; he’s a true force on the front, and is finally being recognized as one of the best in the game. I remember seeing some stat over the last 2-3 years where the only person that was ahead of him was Aaron Donald. Heyward has had himself a nice career, and deserves to finish it off here.

If you sign Cam and Dupree now and then Watt next year, both JuJu and Connor will probably be gone. Then you have Minkah to resign right when Cam and Bud's big cap hits are starting and then you have Bush probably to sign. The cap is a tough game to play. We can't keep everyone. On O, we have a 2 year window with Ben and then the rebuilding starts. When Ben leaves, we are right in that middle of major cap hits on D and, if Rudolph is going to be "the guy", he will have to get paid at that point as well. Cam may only get a 2 or 3 year deal at his age so not much savings other than year one. If we sign all these D players and Rudolph, the rest of the O will be made up of rookies and guys on their 1st contracts. That will be all we can afford.

Don't forget Steve Nelson, Haden is getting up there, we can't lose both Haden and Nelson.

nelson still has 3 more years, the move to draft layne over local pitt kid Winovich was stated because of layne physical tyle and size, and some scouts in works considered winovich below avg vs the run.
