Hoke takes a shot at Fitz

I like Minkah but he's a little overrated IMO. With that being said, I don't think the defensive scheme and coaching is utilizing him to his strengths(shocking). If he was in a Lebeau system or someone that knows what they're doing, he would probably look better.

Sometimes its better to say nothing at all...

If this team is as dysfunctional as these former Steelers are saying lately...then I fully expect them to look like the Chargers did last night in our game tomorrow.

If they play a solid game and win......maybe the outside opinions will magically go in the other direction

Buckle up for that. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

They really don't have Minkah in position to make plays as he has in the past. There are valid criticisms and then there are analysts who criticize everything, warranted or not. Hoke is beginning to trend toward the latter.

I haven't heard/read other critiques by Hoke, so I can't say. But I do KNOW many former Steelers are speaking out about how poorly the team and coach are running things, more than I have EVER heard before. I mean, MUCH more.

When Minkah can play ONLY his position, things are much better. Like when he came here from Miami earlier. Now he is being forced into a role that doesn’t allow him to shine, but he is still qualified to give others his opinion.

I say about time we have a player call out others. Someone needs to lead. Heyward doesn't. Watt doesn't. Maybe in a few years, Porter will lead as his old man did for us at one point. That said. Our offense and defensive schemes don't help our players. This points to our OC and DC. That leads us to Tomlin. Then to Omar. Followed up the ladder to Mr, Rooney. The standard is the standard...but oh how far the standard has fallen.......simply is sickening. Rooney is making the $$$$ so all is well where it counts for him. It is what it is.

They care just like we do. At least some of them do. It's impossible to hide. The eyes and ears do not deceive. I'm glad they say something.

Some of the criticism from players present and past is warranted, Hoke is entitled to his and as a former nfl player, it should carry some weight I guess. But f#%f off Chris.

Minka has not had an all pro season to put it mildly but anyone can see what's going on, sing it Marvin. First or second, injuries and as others have said, he's compensating for lack of ILBs and lack of a strong safety. Coaches are asking him to stop the bleeding everywhere. Neal was never the answer except coming towards the line of scrimmage. Kazee is ok in nickle and dime etc. Edmonds wasn't great but at least they knew who was what.

I loved the draft but was never thrilled with Washington in the third, I fell for some people on this board and media thinking he was a steal where we got him. Battle from Alabama would have at least given us a strong safety to work with. The lowest grade for our front office this past off season was not addressing the void after Edmonds left.

Not to mention Fitzpatrick at least seems to be "involved" with some of the players who need a foot up their a@s. I don't care if he finishes this year without any splash plays. If our front office corrects the strong safety situation, our inside linebackers and Minka stay healthy, he'll be back to all pro.

Good call.

It's the scheme. They have had him essentially playing linebacker.

All of those big plays are gone because of it.
EXACTLY.

Chris Hoke: defensive mind of a generation.... uh NOT.

if this wasn't a dumb-*** defensive lineman and it was Troy Polamalu THEN i might take it seriously. Otherwise this is Gen X-er folk criticizing the young-uns for nothing. Minkah is FIVE times the player Chris Hoke ever was.. on his best days - and Chris Hoke didn't have very many best days.

Yep. Ironically its the same thing tgat made him want to leave Miami

This stuff is all coming to a head. I think the players are going to me it that way. They can't be happy with any of it.

Almost everyone on this team is a fair target for criticism. Maybe not every game but enough. I love Minkah but he has been off this year too.

The coaching has lost the team, no one is immune and this team reflects it.
