zero points in the second half.....******* zero

special teams gives up a huge KO return....**** that.. 3 and out *******

if not for a bullshit call on 97 it would have only been 9 ******* points in the first half

**** the ravens

**** them all

Defense got pushed around in the first half but they sure did turn things around in the second. Huge stops to keep giving the offense chances and then the stop on the last drive.

Heyward made a big third-down stop. Edmunds broke up a pass to prevent a field goal attempt. Watt had a big sack and then Minkah with the game-sealing interception.

You were not your usual self tonight. Still hungover?
Someone said you were late because you were ringing out your tube socks.

okay 3 ******* points

I'm half drunk what do you expect? perfection?

**** the ravens

okay likely more than half drunk
I always expect you to be drunk and perfect. Deal with it.

Still, 3 points in a half is dominant defense.

just wasn't up to the ******* crying in the game thread

just watched the game without that drama

******* crybabies
Drama there was! Wouldn’t be a Steeler thread without it. I was surprised they were able to win but you are correct sir. The defense in the second half played lights out.

Stones overturned, *******!

They've been getting worse against the run as the season has progressed, but have generally done a good job of holding teams to FGs and not giving up long pass plays (which absolutely killed them early in the season) since Watt has been back.

The DL (outside of Heyward) and ILBs just aren't good enough.

They really need a couple younger players to emerge on the line, as Heyward is well into his 30s now.

Loudermilk has been disappointing and I'm still not sure if they consider Leal an edge or a DL long term. He seems to have some talent, and given where the team's needs reside, it may be best to have him gain some weight and try to play inside exclusively next season.

They do not seem to be getting the return on the investments in Bush and Jack they were expecting at ILB. Robinson looks like he could develop into something, but not really sure they can count on it.

Again, traditionally it takes three to four years before a dlineman is ready to start in this D… even guys they put in as a starter in year two often struggle for a season or so before finding their footing… it took heyward three years before he got a starter role, but didn’t really break out until year four… Leal had top end talent but fell in a loaded draft year at the position.., loudermilk was always a longer term project like Kiesel was… and most of our issues against the run are schematic, not performance…

Also I want to point out that as defenses have gone to the small zone more, team’s rushing numbers have improved significantly… the average rushing yards per game this year is over 120… the highest it has been in some time… our rushing offense is at 120ypg but it’s been really good since the bye…
Our run D fell from sixth to seventh in total yards per game after that game, but we are .1ypg behind tge pats and bengals and could finish top five if we can contain Cleveland

Our yards per attempt defense went up from fifth best to forth best…

Now we aren’t great at stopping the run, but we are above average in the NFL right now … we are just spoiled by the steel curtain , cowher and DLB years here…

I suppose the game has changed, but it feels a lot worse than that.

I was pretty surprised when i was looking at the stats weeks ago… the funny thing is outside of like three teams, every fanbase seems to think that their d is tge worse run d in the world… its probably an era shift so perspectives are going to be weird for a bit till it settles wherever it does

Great to see the D and running game really start to dominate. That takes a ton of pressure off Kenny Fn Pickett... Obviously. Shades of 89...1989.

The defense was getting held damn near all game long. Watt and Heyward truly make a difference in the schematics of that defense.

Glad the pressure showed in the 4th quarter. Once Huntley got popped on that sandwich hit, his decision making was down.
