Still in deep shock.

But, the front office has to be dealing to some degree with the idea that we have a different QB situation now.

Fair question. I don't think it changes anything. If they were set to reach for a project QB in round 1 they still are.

I think regardless if they target a top of the draft QB they should blow a seventh on a developmental guy now.. a guy that can spend a year or two on the ps and hopefully develop into at least a backup…

What QBs do you like late in this draft?

I don’t think it’s disrespectful to discuss an already flustered qb situation with the Steelers in light of the tragedy… its a reality that must be addressed.
I agree it is not disrespectful. It is sad. I was hoping that Haskins was going to supplant Rudolph. It definitely opens the door for another free agent or someone to draft. I was reading multiple places that Haskins was been at the Steelers facility non stop working out and getting himself together.

Well that depends… this whole qb situation is weird this year. Yeah at the top the best three aren’t exactly lights out prospects… if they fall a bit they shuffle everything around
It kind of depends on where the lower top qbs bottom out at… if Strong and Ridder fall lower in the mid rounds, then you might see guys like Zappe or Eleby drop down to the seventh… but I really like Kelley Cole, and Barriere seems like a guy they would target late.. Chase Garbers is short, but basically a poor mans daniel jones type…

Or, orrrrrr (here me out) or.....if you dont wish to participate in such a conversation, then dont? Just a thought
Ok I heard you out. Now hear me out. Don't talk about dumb **** Or, orrrrrr I'm gonna tell you it's dumb ****. These are people. Not people I know. I'm not going to cry for Dwayne. I don't know him personally. However, I have empathy for the entire team who does know him.

Who the **** are you to decide that the OP hasnt felt empathy? **** off already

That is the OPs post. There is a young man who got up this morning or went out last night and he is gone. He has family that is most likely in the worst possible situation. He has close friends on the Steelers that are probably beside themselves. If Trubisky organized the thing he is probably devastated. If those guys were here would you be discussing how to replace the third string roster spot? Really. Answer that question.

Depends on where the Steelers rated his progression. If they felt he had a shot at pushing Trubisky and Rudolph, then this did seriously affected their draft. If they thought of him as a camp arm or after thought then it didn’t change much.

I honestly still feel we shouldn’t go QB early. I just don’t see a lot of talent this year. Imo Howell is the best and he’s a second round pick in most drafts.

It a public forum to discuss the Steelers. This isn’t akin to talking about it to personal family members or anything of that ilk…its a legitimate question that you will see asked in the media over the next few days…

The Op didn’t insult or defame his memory. He simply asked how it affect the Steelers roster.

If Gil Brandt and Adam Schfter had the exact same discussion on ESPN how would that be perceived. It's a public forum. Explain to me the difference. Please.

Shefter was bringing up his struggles and brandt was saying it was his own fault for the tragedy

This is asking what the Steelers would do in light of the tragedy

They are light years apart.

He was QB 3. That was his roster position. You can consider whether this horrible tragedy should change the Steelers strategy of whether the Steelers should draft a guy which really it shouldn't because he was QB3. Or you could realize that will work itself over time and be a decent human being. There are many things I write here and realize that's not right or that will likely be proven wrong. This is certainly notone of them.

Nobody is mad at Schefter because he tweeted about it, they got disgruntled because he felt the need to highlight haskins struggles ratger than his accomplishments in the tweet that basically announced his death to the world…

Nobody got angry at that idiot Brandt because he was discussing the death … everyone is… there are dozens of articles and its all over the news and radio on sporks talk today… they are mad because he basically more or less said the kid was stupid and playing in traffic and he was to blame…

That is insensitive…
But discussing logistics a death creates is just terrible reality of life… all of us, im sure have had to deal with the issues that arise when someone dies tragically and suddenly… it’s terrible, but it happens.

You mean like logistics of funeral preparation, where people may have to live, who will help take care of kids. Christ listen to yourself.

Haskins was the developmental qb.
Rudolph was the backup.
They brought in Trubuski as a guy they think will be at least a short term starter…
If Haskins progressed enough and rudolph didn’t win the starters gig, they may well have cut mason… in any case there was a real shot Haskins was at worse going to be tgeir potential backup going forward

This does drastically change things… colbert is on record saying he wanted 4 qbs in camp… so this basically means the draft strategy may change a lot…
