How Many RBs Make This Play

When I first watched the play, it was obvious DPI but I had no inclination that the guy actually caught the ball until he confidently ran in the end zone and acted like he really did have a touchdown.
Then I started thinking this guy’s putting on the best act in the world knowing that there’s cameras all over the place that’s going to see and he didn’t catch the ball or this guy really did catch the freaking ball somehow!
Just a crazy crazy reception!
 
What I took from it apart from it being an incredible catch is he never quit on the play.

He couldn't have known 100% that his foot or whatever body part didn't touch the defender.

This is important because yesterday was a day that for all our talk about the improvement in red zone efficiency the offense was 0 for 3 in the red zone.
 
First time I saw it live, I thought it was a catch, but I thought he was down by contact at the twelve. Then seeing the replay I saw it was a great heads-up play by Gainwell.
 
Not many players make that catch period. Definitely lots of skill and some luck involved. Has to be a solid candidate for catch of the year especially given the circumstances.
 
Much respect to Gainwell.
The catch was an incredible play, definitely the play of the year for this team.
Outside of that though, Kenny G has been a great pick up. He reminds me of the DeAngelo Williams signing. Dependable running back, not just some slug going through the motions of his last career contract. There were a bunch of times that KG has been able to pick up the last 3-5 yards needed for paydirt when it looks absolutely unreachable. Many times this year, plays developed with Gainwell where it looked like the defender had the edge, yet Gainwell consistently would beat them to the spot.

I would love to see him back here next year, but think that the reality of greener pastures are going to be out there waiting for him in free agency this offseason
 
Gainwell has been the most consistent player on offense. I will be the first to admit I was way off on him. He needs to be in a Steeler Jersey next year. Guy makes catches 99% of NFL wr's can only dream of. Elite hands. Imagine him with a better OC!
