Louisville fires Rick Pitino amid corruption scandal

Rick Pitino found the scandal he couldn’t survive. The Louisville coach, as well as athletic director Tom Jurich, was canned on Wednesday, according to multiple reports, one day after the corruption scandal that rocked the NCAA focused intently on Louisville. Pitino and Jurich met with Louisville officials Wednesday.

According to WAVE-TV, Jurich was asked to fire Pitino and when he refused was fired himself. A news conference is scheduled for later Wednesday. The FBI investigated corruption and bribery in college sports, arresting assistants from four programs. Louisville was spotlighted by the investigation, which found a Cardinals recruit was funneled $100,000 through Adidas to get him to commit to Louisville.

Living in Indiana just across the river from Louisville, (I actually work in Louisville) this makes me ******* happy as ****!
I get to listen to those snobby *** ***** everyday. They will be in the ******* for 10 years after this mess, at least I hope.

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. Wait til they start looking into how Duke, UNC and Kentucky get all the top recruits. Every year.

UK and dook I agree. UNC has not gotten a top recruit in years (Harrison Barnes) They seem to not be playing in the one and done era. The guys who are recruiting all of the one and done guys and getting kids to reclassify and graduate in 3 years even though they can barely pass classes in high school and take online academy classes. There will be more schools and coaches implicated and I expect football to be next. Watch out $EC. Also, this is been going on for years. Kids getting gifts, money, their family jobs and houses. NCAA is corrupt as is recruiting.
 
Random thoughts..

1. I wonder if the ACC Officials are second guessing the decision to invite Louisville instead of West Va. to the ACC a few years ago?
2. Will all of this investigation stuff help Pitt's chances to climb one spot out of the ACC cellar this season?
 
I believe ALL div1 programs operate in the same way.......some are better at it than others. After the PSU/Sandusky case, anything is possible, anywhere.

N.C.A.A.: North Carolina Will Not Be Punished for Academic Scandal

The N.C.A.A. on Friday morning announced that it “could not conclude that the University of North Carolina violated N.C.A.A. academic rules” in what is widely considered the worst academic scandal in college sports history.

The N.C.A.A. did not dispute that a major academic fraud had occurred over several years, but its committee on infractions, which empowered a panel to investigate, concluded it did not have the power to punish the university.
