At some point, it's pointless to blame the coach, the players, the front office, or the ownership. I blame the fans. If the fans didn't keep forking over the money for their season tickets and pricey concessions, ownership would take notice. As long as there is no penalty for fielding a poorly coached, lackluster team why should the owner bother improving the product? I was so disgusted I turned it off after Bell's penalty for taunting. The NFL's only appeal today is to the fantasy fans who don't really care about a team as long as their players perform.

After just 4 more decades of this ****, the Steelers will start to resemble the Toronto Maple Leafs.

That doesnt make sense. Lets only be fans when our team is good.

Here we Go Steelers. Here we ******* Go.

I hear you but if we don't stick by the team at least for a while through the bad times and bad coaches then we're bandwagon. It took 14 years of the Pirates losing before I began my boycott of all things Bucco.

Ron, right now, the Pirates' management is a billion light years ahead of the Steelers' management.

Can you imagine the Steelers current management competing against other teams that can and do spend three times as much in payroll??? Seriously, think about that for a second.

Even before the Pirates started making the playoffs, their management has easily been the best in Pittsburgh. Just look at what theyve built. Not just a winning team for now, but for the future.

Sad but true. NFL has a salary cap and less excuses than MLB, although the drafting situation in the NFL is better and more competitive.

Just sayin', I'm not bandwagon. Need a few more years of mediocrity before I burn all my Steeler swag and become a Dolphins fan (since I'm going to move to FL).

Ok let's not compare two different sports with completely different business models. That's just pointless.

Oh, 100%, Ron.

I follow and root for the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.

Guess who I root for in the NBA? Yeah, don't give a ****.

Guess who else I have ever rooted for? Nobody, ever.

Suffered the Littlefield years. Never bailed on the team.

Suffered the 1986 2-10 Steelers start under Noll. Never abandoned the team.

Suffered the Penguins' horrible blown 3-0 playoff loss to the @#$&ing Islanders. The team was not good at the time, but better than that. Celebrated the arrival of Mario, then Sid for the Pens, McCutchen and Walker and Cole for the Pirates, Bradshaw and Harris and Swann and Lambert and Blount and Woodson and Troy and Ben for the Steelers ... you get the point.

I am merely pointing out that the Pirates' current management faces incredible handicaps in revenue and payroll, and yet has a roster massively superior to that of the Yankees or Red Sox, and a minor league system that is parsecs away from high-budget teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, etc.

And despite a tradition that is unparalleled in the NFL since the merger, a hard salary cap, a franchise QB, and 3 HOF players on the roster he inherited, Tomlin has turned the team into ...

This.

I truly love your point. It will only work if you could get every other team in the league to do the same. I'm fed up with Goodell, and his dumbing down of the game.

Life time fan, always have and always will. 68 to present. The big three STEELERS / Pens / Bucs. Only teams ever rooted for in pro's.

Salute the nation

We had FREE tickets and made hotel reservations for the Jacksonville game next week. Cancelled everything a few weeks ago. Partially because of a family situation, partially because we didn't want to waste the money and get embarrassed live during an away game. Looks like that was a good call now.

I demand quality product if im going to pay top dollar. Ill watch whatever i can on free tv. At the end of the day it's just entertainment.

I'd never turn my back on this team. Ever. I hope for the best even in the face of insurmountable evidence. If I was at the games like many of you I'd get the Tomlin sucks chant going though.

I had things to do today. Could not watch the game. First one I missed in years. I might miss more. I won't be watching another game, I won't be watching. Painting walls was more exciting. The game has changed. I have seen some improvement in Tomlin. But his up and down play of the team seems to be very much like the Kordell years. That guy was so close to becoming really good it was enough to make you crazy. He just could not get it together. In comparison MT has been developing but has not seemed to be able to make the next step yet. Maybe it is like someone posted in an earlier thread, he just needs 10 days to get ready.

I was disappointed in all the fans leaving with so much time on the clock just to beat the traffic. I also must say that I was also disappointed in the crowds participation in the game as a whole. A lot of "fans" show up to the game with there jerseys, towels, and tailgate for hours but when it comes down for actually being vocal and heaven forbid stand up they are nowhere to be found. Seems to me a bunch of people are more excited about tailgating than they are about the actual game.

The fans who attend the games tend to be older, wealthier and more casual, not die-hards. I know some season ticket holders who often don't even watch the away games on TV no matter how important they might be.

Probably true, and very sad. And for every one of them there is someone like me who is priced out of actually going to a game, even though I'd love the chance. Its on my bucket list to catch a Steelers game someday.

That plus a lot of people are like me and can afford maybe one or two games a year and aren't part of the regular experience, again because we're priced out. And a lot of season ticket holders sell maybe half their tickets so they can pay for the rest. Peanut heaven after the weather gets cold tends to be affordable and that's where you'll find me.

I was only able to see the last few minutes of the game, thanks to Fox "Bonus" coverage. There sure seemed to be a lot of empty seats at the stadium, and that was long before we stopped Tampa on their final possession to win the game. WTF is up with that? Based upon what I saw yesterday, there might be more Steeler fans at away games.

There really isn't a home field advantage anymore in Pittsburgh. It sucks.

I was at the divisional playoff game vs the Ravens in January of 2011. I'll probably NEVER attend a game that was that electrifying of an atomosphere again, and that makes me sad.

Oh so you mean our second to last home playoff game was the last time you were at an electrifying game?? DUHHHH its the last time we were in the ******* playoffs at home. Playoff games are always turned up.

Im saying it seems we might never match that intensity again, even if playoff football returns, though, thats a stretch. I guess no matter how much the game changes, if the Steelers are good, the fans will come.
