Jeepers, you’re a 1/2 game out of leading your division with 2 games still to play against current leader.
You’re still in the hunt, you never know what may transpire. Our whole division is crap, except for the return of Joe Barrow as he is making the bungles more significant with each game they play. Do they have enough time (games) to overcome? That all hinges on how the raven / Steelers finish out.
Don’t pack it in yet, but when they do…….. that is Will Howard time.

While I agree it won’t win games, I would argue that playing Howard in this offense will be of no benefit to him as a professional or the Steelers as a whole. Kid could be the franchise and you’ll never know playing in this offense.

If they lose to the Rats and the Dolphins, I'd definitely start thinking about giving Howard 1st team reps with a start in the last game of the season or even before. I have trouble seeing this team even winning 2 more games, but somehow, they will get to 8-8-1 or 9-8 to keep Tomlin's streak alive.
This is sad but true. If they do start Howard, he definitely won't be able to use the middle of the field. 90% of his passes will be within 10 yards of the LOS. And that would definitely hurt Howard. Some day, Tomlin has to get out of his fears and allow the offense to do offensive things. You play to win. You don't play not to lose.
@Sarge , I understand your thinking, but here are my thoughts. Too many fans, even on this board, are already starting that 2026 Rd 1 QB pick for the Steelers. I don't want us to fall into that trap. I want to see what Will Howard is capable of. I am one that thinks Howard has a ton of upside and toughness, much of what we like about our QB's. I think this kid has it, but we should be able to see it. You have a great point, this O system would shred him before we could really see what he has. Terrible place to be.
I just think the G-Men had to make the same decision and they found someone in Dart.

Oh it's packed and up in the attic..lol. The only thing the Steelers are in the hunt for are vacation spots after their last game of the season and god willing ,a new coaching staff.

Damn, they'd be just throwing the guy to the wolves then, behind that Oline and with these weapons and this offense, lol, oh wait they did that to one of their all-time greats.

Not a good idea for the one very good reason of the need to simplify the playbook to plays and concepts that Will is comfortable with, meaning that may limit personnel packages that limits playing time or targets to certain play makers. I for one want to see more targets to Mt Worshington, Smith and Muth. Can I get a ******* seam route for piss sakes!!? You know with Will in at QB, there is no way in Hell Capt Cool Shades is going to let him throw in the middle of the field.

I hear yaz, but the towel isn’t quite ready to be thrown in. Howard has only been taking scout team reps, that in itself is a pretty big obstacle. The Tomlin will NOT pull Aaa-Ron or Rudolf until the absolute end. That means his Tomlinship must be out of reach.
Once eliminated from PO chance, I’m fully on board for the Will Howard to come in. Bench the Aaa-Ron & Rudy don’t take any 1st team snaps, they all go to Will for the rest of what ever is left for the season. Sort of trial by fire to see what the hell we actually have in him.
Your last sentence is true, in all aspects…… BUT Will has no game speed / quick read release / crap scheme / Tomlinization experienced. He would be sent out and told not to throw over the middle amongst other things and become gun-shy, similar to the last 1st round pick QB we had. There is no win for Will, not this year or as long as the tomlin is here.

I too want to see what Howard can do, but again, in this offense, he has no chance. None. Rodgers is old yes, but if he’s having struggles then Howard is doomed.
I too was in the camp of wanting to see Will Howard sooner than later, but some of you might be changing my mind on that.
I think maybe the best we can hope for at the end of this season is a regime change, and then having the new staff evaluate Will accordingly in their new system next year. Throwing him out there in this limited, Tomlin-choked dogshit offense just might stunt his development for good. It's happened before.

My point as well. We all want Will Howard the succeed, add in the ****-QB play since Ben’s retirement adds to the angst of wanting success,
I think near any QB is doomed as long as this coach and schematics are incorporated. I can’t see a total re-write of scheme and still keeping this current coach employed. If Rooney is that desperate, he will feel the fan verbally and fiscally.
Pat McAfee had a great segment today about the fans and how they are united. He didn’t feel it would happen in season, but also didn’t rule it out.
I think unless there is a major turn around on the entire team (won’t happen) the only thing left is for Tomlin and the Art2 to negotiate an exit strategy.
Time will tell and the ONLY thing that is keeping this AFC North close is the fact Joe Barrow got injured. Had that not happened, they would have a 3 game lead and not relinquish it. Something the Steelers can’t say.
