The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday afternoon that they have hired Frisman Jackson as their wide receivers coach.

We have named Frisman Jackson as our wide receivers coach.

The team did not renew the contract of Ike Hillard who has spent the past two seasons as wide receivers coach. The teams receiver play has been shaky at best.

Jackson has spent the past two seasons in Carolina under Matt Rhule who he coached with at Baylor.

While Jackson was at Carolina, receiver DJ Moore had a highly productive two seasons, catching 159 passes for 2,350 yards and eight touchdowns during that span, the yards ranking seventh-most in the NFL during the time period.

Jackson played four seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns.

He looks good in black and gold. He wasn't being used properly on Carolina.

That positional group struggled mightily. Will be good to get some new blood in there. Hopefully this will be a positive.

I'm glad for the change but here again it took a non-renewal of contract to change. Ike hasn't gotten it done from day one and yet two years here.

I'm glad for the outside hire and change that's hopefully for the better.

MAYBE quietly Coach Tomlin is cooking something up.

And Diontae Johnson to toughen up a bit. 💪
Mentally is where he needs toughened up. He is going to drop a pass now and then but he lets it get in his head and creates more drops. Ti is like my son's Tics with his Tourettes the less he thinks about them the less they happen if you mention it to him and he thinks about them they get worse.

Agreed on the drops. I was thinking more of hearing footsteps, shying away from contact, pulling up on routes, running out of bounds instead of fighting for yards, just being a tougher player all around. I understand he's not the biggest dude out there, but he really could play a bit tougher. He's been in the league long enough to get a lay of the land by now.

Odd hire. He's been a WR coach since 07 and never anywhere longer than 2 years.

Where was the Hines Ward interview???? MT hate him or something??

Ward would have been a great Hire, but I'd be pressed to think he would have come here.

PS Good see yaz posting Cope.!!

I was going to hire Claypool to teach the stop drop and roll technique for my daughters Girl Scout troop for fire safety week.

He would have looked good in green, provided he was used properly and probably could have gotten him for vet minimum.!

THIS off season I think Chase will grow as a WR to be more competent in his trade.

I would have to look into Hines when he was with the Jets as their coach. I honestly thought Cotchery would’ve been perfect. His route running was pretty damn good and his technique was textbook. I was hoping that they didn’t hire Limas Sweed as their WR coach…lol

Definitely Cotchery would be a great hire as well, just my 2cents.

The thing about Ward is I think he would bring a physical presence that this WR corps desperately needs. Again, just my 3 cents.

Hilliard seemed like a good guy, but when Claypool was a complete disappointment in year two someone is going to take the fall. They're really going all-in with Canada hiring Canada guys at a couple of positions.

Yep, the move I figured they would make weeks ago. Purely a cosmetic move to make it look like Tomlin is doing something. Plus, made sure Hilliard's contract ran out too. Sorry boys, not very familiar with Frisbee Jackson I mean Frisman.

Once again they wait for someone's contract to run out instead of firing them.

Panthers had a ton of drops including many by Stephen Anderson. NC State had a ton of drops under Jackson..we could do better.
