Hey A win is a win but Ike has lost two steps... deep routes will kill this team.
Hold off on the blitz and the short pass is covered.
The Steelers don't have the legs to hold coverage deep ( 15+ yards )
And the run D well that's for another thread.

Any win is good but that was very sloppy D

Go Steelers

I agree 100%. Ike's been done for a couple of years. I love Troy, but he's lost his speed completely. And Cam Thomas should not be on the field. Keisel greatly outplayed him today.

There are lots of issues on the defense. Worilds and Jones can't hold the point and the ILBs over run everything. The DL looks like ****. The Cbs can't cover. Troy is slow and Ike can't cover any more.

Troy has lost a step or two but he is smart enough to usually be in the right place and make up for it. Ike isn't.

Unfortunately, this is pretty much a spot on analysis.

I said this in the preseason and will reiterate it: this could quite possibly prove to be the worst Steelers" defense in memory. They basically do nothing well.

Jones had a good first half. He pushed the RT into the backfield several times, but was overpursuing almost every run his direction. The rest of the defense minimized the damage in the 1st half, but in the 2nd half, the Browns ran at him repeatedly, he would move too far to his left, leave a big hole in the defense, and the running back would blow through that hole for easy yardage.

I cannot remember the name of the guy who shredded the Steelers run defense the 2nd half, but I shuddered thinking what a guy like Lesean McCoy or Marshawn Lynch would do to this defense.

It's just week one but I wonder how fans will feel if Worlids continue to play like he did today will they regret the decision to keep
Worlids over Woodley. All water under the bridge but I preferred Woodley who had a better body of work. As for Ike yes his better
years are behind. He dropped an INT as usual. Younger faster receivers will destroy him. I hate the team wasn't able to sign
Alterraun Verner during the offseason.

Troy is at least a step slower than he used to be. The CBs were going to be an issue till one of those other guys steps up or they actually draft a guy

The Browns didn't repeatedly run at Jones in the second half. The majority of the big chunks they gained on the ground was to Cam Thomas and Worilds side. It started off with Worilds getting faked out of his shoes in the backfield. Then they just kept blowing McClendon and Thomas so far back off the ball, a retired Bettis could have run through the holes. That's not to say that they didn't run to JJ's side. But your post makes it seem like they felt that was the weak spot in the D, when it was clearly the other side.

Polamalu lost a step and was finished years ago. Glad yinz are finally figuring it out.

I stand corrected - you are right.

Neither OLB held the point effectively, but Worilds was simply awful.

I think Woodley ended up with 1 tackle yesterday.

Bring in McCullers in the middle and let Tuitt play. If the guys in front of them suck like they did yesterday let these kids play and grow. It was gruesome to watch our run D get shredded like that.

Tuitt was in on the 15 yard TD. So you had Worilds at LOLB, Tuitt at LDE and Timmons at LILB. Tuitt and Worilds gets destroyed at the point. Then Timmons gets hammered to the ground trying to get through the wash. Hell Keisel gets closer to the RB than Timmons and he is all the way on the other side of the line.

Timmons has a clear shot on the 2nd run as well. And he whiffs.

We could really use Keenan Lewis right about now.

kesiel and heyward saved us after the touch back where we got the 3 and out that got ben in great field possession, ike again dropped a easy intc, they really need to look at if any decent vets are out there

They had Troy up on the line blitzing all the damn time - - we need a safety that plays safety, not another whiffed tackle on the line. Cut that **** out.

The whole Steelers defense seems to be arm tacklers.

Troy is trying to make up for all the **** they have at LB. You have a rookie at RILB, two weak OLBs and Timmons who can run but whiffs a lot and is so big now he can't cover a TE. Having average to below average lbs in a 3-4 is a death nail. Add to that the DL isn't great, you're in trouble.

We've been spoiled over the last couple decades with Joel Steed and then Big Snack and Hokey at NT. That's where it all starts in this 3/4 and we do not have that dominant NT unless Big Dan proves to be the guy and we all better hope that he does.

Yes, yes, Ike is killing this defense. I knew that he would. The guy was starting his quick descent after the 2011 playoff loss where of all people, Tim Tebow exposed just how much this guy had lost. Start Gay if you have to but get him the hell out of there.

I vote Gay and Allen on the edges and put Taylor in the slot press and in the dime Mcain.
players in order I would of taken over Dri Archer
Walk Aikens
Pierre Desir
Jaylon Watkins

Should of not waited till the 5th to take a raw CB from who is a good 2 years away from hitting the field.

now Colbert has to go
2015
1 CB
2 OLB

after watching worlids live he is useless vs the run, we should of re structured woodley and traded worlids for picks.
there is no way if worlids even if gets 10 sacks but keeps overpursuing on runs to his side should be kept at 9-11 mill a year avg.
Timmons was terrible yesterday he got toasted by Cameron, and then the missed tackled on the read option off tackle/counters was beyond unacceptable, I could not believe there was no adjustment made by lebeauno cross blitzes worlids and uncle jarvis in the 2nd half getting stone walled, when we punted after blount got stuffed on the failed draw and had to punt Brett and Heyward saved us from going into ot, Gay played well, should start.

No **** bring in big dan
Love the pick of # 50 but 225 lbs at inside SILB ain't going to make it.. god has the steelers D missed a man like Levon Kirklad in the middle.
McCllers could eat up blockers and free blitz lanes but do the steelers have the legs on the back side to hold coverage ?

GO STEELERS

The name of the guy was Isaiah Crowell... Being a huge GA Bulldog fan I saw him down there for a year and instantly saw his potential. He got stupid and dropped from GA and then went to Alabama State I think.
Jarvis did alright, but dropping his shoulder as a tackling technique has got to stop

If you look at the passing yardage around the league in week one do you wonder where all the great CB's the Steelers passed up went? Incidently the Brown's and the Giant's last night started two #1's at corner and I don't think the Seahawks have one picked in the top 3 rds.
