Initial Thoughts on browns game

Why, exactly, is the Acrisure sod such dogshite right now?? Not enough rain?? Usually the grass doesnt start to look so rough until late in the season

comfortable win (that's a first!), despite not creating any turnovers (until the one on downs).
23 points against a solid D is not thoo shabby, but it feels like with better playcaliling we could have scored 30
Field conditions took away 3 points . It should have been 26 points.

They need to get another WR. Early in the game, they weren’t getting any separation. They need to start looking big picture as well, if they want to be a legit playoff threat, they need to get Aaron another receiver

Wonder if the Browns would part with Jeudy? I’d also move Muth, can’t pay him $12M a season to watch.

Washington finally got loose in the open

Jalen Ramsey....first 2 sack game of his career

TJ Watt > Myles Garrett

Officiating today....Questionable at best! Tried to keep the Clowns in the game in the final 5 minutes.....1st & Goal from the 5 yd line and Gabriel throws it 20 rows deep in the endzone while in the tackle box and the Refs said #44 was in the General Area! Ball was 20 feet over his head and still climbing....How about Intentional Grounding?

Rats lost and are now 1-5 :P

Steelers are 4-1 :)

Overall, a good win. Run game coming together, Aaron is surgical in the red zone, D dominating a team they should dominate, but we’re going to need more after the Cincy game. Green Bay, Indy, at LAC is the first stretch of legit teams we’ll play. Then after Cincy again, at Chicago, Buffalo, at Baltimore, likely with Lamar back unless they fold up shop and IR him. At Detroit a couple weeks later.

Glad they’re stacking wins against tomato cans but have to keep improving.

I don't think that was JPJ
Coolie is correct

2 Yard Penalty

3rd & 5 at PIT 5
10:31 4th Shotgun — D.Gabriel pass incomplete short right to J.Jeudy. ** Injury Update: PIT-J.Porter has returned to the game. PENALTY on PIT-B.Echols, Defensive Pass Interference, 2 yards, enforced at PIT 5 - No Play.

That game went about as expected. The Browns play really good defense and don't make many mistakes on offense.

The tight end usage is bizarre. I love that they got Washington involved in all aspects of the game, but why trade for Jonnu Smith if you continue to run 3-yard routes with him?

I still say some of the seeming lack of other receivers stepping up is that we have gone back to not throwing over the middle. Doesn't do any good to try to take pressure off of our no. 1 if we don't actually throw to those receivers. This is where I believe Wilson would be most valuable, also Muth. We seldom even throw seem routes let alone slants. We seem to play statistically safer football which translates to winning seasons but not playoff caliber football. Statistically the middle is more dangerous.

My initial thought and it's stuck in my head was the play in the first quarter with about 7 minutes left to DK along the Browns sideline was ridiculously accurate. I can't get it out of my head because Rodgers does that then he has throws that are way off probably because of pass rush most of the time, but that go or post whatever it was...was absolutely ridiculous. You can't be anymore covered than that.

Pitt played 4 home games in the first month of the season. They should replace the field when they have home games stacked like that.

They definitely cannot afford to pay all three edge guys.
No they can not, that is why I would have dealt TJ this offseason. Getting Sawyer makes it an even more of a no brainer
I personally would look to trade Highsmith in the off-season and give the money to Herbig, but I suspect they'll just let Herbig walk for mega bucks and rely on Sawyer developing (or drafting someone else) to replace Watt in a few years.
Since they didn’t trade TJ, Highsmith has to be traded. Sawyer can be the 3rd olb and replacement for Watt
When it comes to WR2, I think the Steelers just like Austin a lot more than fans or media do.
Would seem so, hopefully Wilson comes along like Austin is.
I would definitely look to trade for a more established WR2, but I've been saying that since they traded Diontae Johnson a couple years ago.
I think it would be a waste of capital, we all know how Tomlin feels about players catching a moving train. Address it in the offseason if it needs to be
It would be nice if Roman Wilson would capitalize on the opportunity by showing some more than he has.
Looks like he is doing what he can with the opportunities he is given.

1. Smith was just a bonus player acquired in the Ramsey trade
2. That is the route receivers run in the “play in our fears” Tomlin offense

The steelers are a good team and getting better. The browns have one of the best defenses in the league and the steelers consistently moved the ball on them.
The offense is still a work in progress but this is the first functional offense since Big Ben left. This game would have been a 9-6 steelers win the least few years.

This OL is getting better. They have some training wheels on now with Spencer Anderson playing as an extra OT and Washington also serving as an extra blocker. As the OL gets better, they should be able to do less of that and get Freiermuth and Jonuu involved as pass catchers.

Arthur Smith is a good OC. Unlike the last few OC's he does have the ability to watch film, put together a gameplan and attack a weakness. He is able to modify his system to fit the talent. He's getting the most out of this group. That's all you can ask of an OC.

The defense is showing signs of being dominant. The DL was in shambles early but now that Harmon is playing, they are keeping the LBs clean to make plays. The secondary is getting healthy.

The main point i tried to get across in my preseason thread where i declared the steelers a contender was that there are ZERO unbeatable teams in the NFL. We can see that clearly now. The Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, Lions all have losses and have shown they have flaws.

I don't know if the steelers can go all the way, but they are legit contenders, not because they're great but because nobody else is great either.

Well if the Browns play really good D, and they do, and their offense makes few mistakes, then you can say the game didn’t go as would be expected.

Our offense has been pedestrian and our D has been subpar all year!

What was expected was that they are still the Browns!! Losing is what they do!
(If that’s what you mean)!
