The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a few more key injuries Sunday night in their blowout win over the Kansas City Chiefs and while not even 24 hours has passed since the game concluded, updates are beginning to trickle in on the players who were unable to finish the contest.
According to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Steelers tackle Marcus Gilbert was spotted Monday wearing a walking boot on his injured left foot. Gilbert left the Sunday night game in the first half with what head coach Mike Tomlin would later say was a left mid-foot injury. As you can see in the animated gif below, Gilbert got his left foot trapped underneath a pile of players during the game and after leaving the field he never returned.
As for outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo, who left the game in the third quarter with a left knee injury, he apparently was spotted on Monday wearing a compression sleeve on his left leg. He also now has a slight limp, according to Adamski.
As you can see in the animated gif below, Chickillo appears to have jammed or twisted his knee while rushing the passer with 4;23 remaining in the third quarter. Like Gilbert, Chickillo never returned to the game and afterwards Tomlin said that his left knee would be further evaluated.
In other injury news, Steelers wide receiver Eli Rogers is reportedly now out of the walking boot that he’s been wearing since suffering a toe injury during the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. Rogers missed the Steelers game against the Chiefs as a result of the injury.
As far as I can tell there hasn’t been any new updates on the other Steelers players who were injured Sunday night and that list includes tackle Ryan Harris (leg hemotoma) wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (shoulder) and linebacker Jarvis Jones (ankle). Tomlin will likely update the status of all injured players on Tuesday during his weekly press conference.
