You can see last year the Steelers was low in its free agency percentage.

Obviously this offseason that would go up.

What it doesn't factor in is impact players. They said surprisingly the Rams had a lower free agency percentage than anticipated but those pickups were significant. A franchise QB and pass rusher and a solid receiver came to that team recently.

You can't be afraid to sign an older player or two.

Good read article, thanks for posting it

The STEELERS actually had salary cap room and went out and invested it wisely, or so we think. That will definately put us in the average SB ratio of drafted vs FA.

It's just another way to break things down and look at it in another perspective.

Thing is they still have work to do. You don't want to go into the draft needing a starter. That will screw up your approach to the draft. Which is drafting BPA of need. Instead you reach say for a safety you feel can start sooner than later. And in the process leave better value on the board.

Also DIC they can't be afraid to bring in a older vet if they are a upgrade/difference maker. Von Miller helped the Rams out as did Odell. Gronk the Bucs, Honey Badger the Chiefs, etc.

If you want a chance to be the best you have to take calculated risks, and not be so locked into a certain approach.

I hear yaz slash, If they could fit Becham in cost wise I'd say he would be an up-grade in our WR room. His vet leadershitp and his ability would improve our game. I think maybe he has matured and the cleveand experience may have humbled him.

Bad teams build in FA. Historically good teams are heavier on the draft.

Then again, when you are paying a franchise QB, you have no choice but build through the draft since FA/cap money is slim
