RD1- Gerod Holliman S Lousville
In a different draft thread I had Holliman as my second round pick because the site I used had him ranked as a late 2nd round pick. I stated then I doubt he lasts that long. Holliman is a ballhawk in every sense of the word. He had 14 interceptions, yes 14, last year. He has a nose for those “splash” plays Tomlin speaks about but we rarely have anymore. He isn't afraid of contact but probably looks for the big hit too often and doesn't wrap up like I'd like to see. Needs a little refinement on his angles as well. But right now we need a safety and we need someone who can make plays so in this draft he does make the most sense.
RD2- TJ Clemmings OT Pitt
Clemmings has LT potential and looking at our roster Beachum who in my opinion is a serviceable LT but would be a pro bowl LG is our best option. Ramon Foster is a journey man who would make a nice depth guy but is going into his final year of his contract. Who would you rather pay LG money Beachum or Foster? If Clemmings isn't a LT he is at very least a better RT than Gilbert or Adams. I say give Clemmings the opportunity to compete for a job not just hand it to anyone. Best man wins and if he can play LT and Beachum goes to LG we have significantly improved two spots on the line.
RD3- Lorenzo Mauldin OLB Lousivlle
I wasn't impressed with any CB on the board at this point and Noah Spence had too man character concerns so I went with Mauldin. He is a dynamic pass rusher and has played OLB and DE so he shouldn't need as much transition time as others. I think Blake, McCain (if resigned) and Allen and Gay can get the job done but would do a better job with more safety help and a better pass rush.
RD4- Quandre Diggs CB Texas
I feel Diggs is a pretty underrated CB for his production. Not the flashiest guy on the field but he really doesn't have a lot of weakness either. Average size but thick frame, average speed but enough, has good hands, nice anticipation, and can tackle.
RD5- Connor Hamlett TE Oregon State
Our sure handed TE had a few more drops this year than I think he has ever in a season. He also is not getting any younger and the other depth we have on the roster isn't a spring chicken either. Hamlett is 6-7 with good hands and can block. Gives us a season to develop him and see where we sit going into the 2016 draft.
RD6- Henry Anderson DE/DL Stanford
I am not sure Keisel will be back and I am certain Cam Thomas shouldn't be. Heyward deserves a new deal and Tuitt had flashes but we still need depth. Anderson has good size at 6-6 290lbs and long arms and should convert easily to our system.
RD7- Ryan Mueller OLB Kansas St
Had a monster Jr. year with 18.5 TFL and 11.5 sacks but didn't have the same production last year. Still is a high motor guy, a hard worker, and someone you want on your team. I feel he at the very least is a special teams ace. This guy makes the rest on your team practice harder.
