Jalen Hurts signs mega deal....hey Lamar

I understand Philadelphia takes a minimal hit this year and will spread the contract around and probably renegotiate it eventually to create cap space a few years down the road but 51 million a year is what it averages.

I'm curious but it's probably double any other player in the nfl that's not a qb. And Burrows probably surpasses it. I'm guessing the owners and NFLPA will eventually sit down and discuss some type of percentage on QBs salary vs. the salary cap. The salary for top tier qbs has doubled in a very short period and will only increase. The QBs will not like it but it leaves more for the rest of the players.

One thing you learn from these off seasons is some of this is the price of rice. Hopefully Kenny plays well and wins a SB before his first contract is up instead of an MVP and no SB. I thought the most ridiculous one was Giants and Daniel Jones. I don't know how they could think he is capable of winning anything.

Hurts earned that contract with a trip to the SB and he was solid all year. He should be one of the top QBs in the league for awhile. I was actually surprised how well he played. Him and the Eagles didn't mess around to get the deal done. Good on them.

The players association might want to sit down but I doubt the owners care. As long as they have the cap in place I think that's all they care about. It's up to the smartest GMs to figure out how to best distribute the money for the best chance at success. Meanwhile it weakens the Players Association because players may begin arguing amongst themselves over pay inequity.

It's really just a microcosm of society in general - divide and conquer and the rich getting richer in the meantime.

Valid point regarding the owners and "smartest" GMs. You would hope winning is also important to the organization. A quarterback get's seriously injured or you sign someone like Kyler Murry to 46 million a year based on a decent year and your pretty much screwed and the rest of the players on the team know it (Hopkins and Baker). The fans quit buying merchandise and sit at home instead of coming out and spending money.

Granted the qb is still going to be the highest paid player and if he goes down your going to suffer but maybe your not f#@ged for the next five years.

I agree the QB should be the highest paid player unless there's entry level contracts involved. Just that the pay scale is way out of whack now. Besides Mahomes none of the rest should be getting what the top end of the QB scale is right now. And even that's going to catch up with KC sooner or later.

When the time comes, provided Pickett pans out to be a damn good QB , won't we be facing the same obscene salary situation?

While Hurts has missed a few games due to injury it's no where as many as Lamar.

I'm still hoping the Ratbirds overlook that and sign Lamar to the big, guaranteed contract Lamar deserves 😁

Not just in monetary value but also a 10 year time slot as well.

I signed a similar contract to teach inmates. Just a few decimal points off, but similar.

Dude,..... YOU should have gotten an agent.!!!

beyond the absurd amount of money, at least there's some logic in the guaranteed %, about 3 of the 5 years are guaranteed practically.

I think Lamar should take a clue
