Seems like a Joe Haden like situation, in cap hell, huge cap hit, couldn't trade him (since everyone knew they had to make big cuts), now a FA...

Giants fans seem to like the guy, just a bit overpaid with their cap problems.

They probably couldn’t trade him because any team trading for him would be on the hook for his contractual salary. Not they can sign him to whatever.

Was he used properly in NY?

Those ridiculous contracts end up in these situations

I would rather sign Haden back on a fair deal

Ehhhhh, I don’t know.
He’s 5 years younger than Haden.
If the price is right, he’d be a starter here.
I think Haden would be cheaper and then perhaps we have enough$$ to sign a vet oline or dline later on in the year

He’s coming off the 2nd year of his second contract. He will be 29 at season start. All depends on what he thinks his value is.

I hope the Steelers new GM is calling him.
He isn't hired yet. Better let Tombert stay in effect. One area shouldn't suffer because of another being evaluated.

Yep…. All to be able to say they “reset” the market.
players better sign with a team that truly respects contracts, like the Steelers do, unless you are a malcontent of course or a complete bust that doesnt put on the work

The Steelers have had several months to find a GM........this should have been handled already, or there should have been an interim plan.

Maybe there is, and it just hasnt been made public.

Nothing has changed with the Steelers. Everyone knew Colbert was going to remain GM through the draft and the Steelers wouldn't hire a new GM until after the draft. Colbert is supposed to stay in his current capacity until a new GM is hired and even then he is supposed to stay on board in some capacity through the transition. That has all been out there for weeks, if not months.

And, I would definitely look to try and sign Bradberry. We have 3 CB2's and no true CB1. Bradberry would fit that nicely for a 4-year contract. They may have to decide to cut Tuitt to do it.

But there's a reason Haden would be cheaper.
A Chevy Spark is cheaper than a Lexus ES.
There are reasons for that.

Are we in the market for an aging zone CB?

If so, kick the tires…but I would guess from the guys currently on roster that we’re more looking for CBs that excel in man coverage.

At the right price worth a look, as always never hurts to look.

Depends are we in the market for letting Pierre and or Layne have significant playing time if the team loses a starter for a significant amount of time?

Perhaps that answer, answers the initial question.

I think the better question is how is it possible that the New York Football Giants are possibly in cap jail.
GM obviously was not using the cap properly.

😁
