Biden can win, targeting the blue collar rust belt voters that Hillary lost in PA, Michigan, Wisconsin... if he dumps the hard core socialist ****
Joe Biden signals that Pennsylvania is vital to his campaign
PITTSBURGH — Stressing how vital Pennsylvania will be to his presidential campaign, Joe Biden pledged loyalty to the middle class during his first rally as a candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination.
“If I’m going to be able to beat Donald Trump in 2020, it’s going to happen here,” Biden told a packed crowd at the Teamsters Local 249 banquet hall.
“I make no apologies, I am a union man,” Biden told several hundred people packed into a Teamsters union hall. He said Pittsburgh and his birthplace, Scranton, represent the “hard-working middle class Americans that are the backbone of this nation.”
"We have to choose hope over fear, unity over division, and maybe most importantly, truth over lies"
Biden endorsed raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and said that “non-compete” agreements for low-wage workers should be banned.
The rally, the first public event since Biden announced his presidential bid Thursday, underscored how his campaign will run through Pennsylvania and the middle class voters that swung it and other critical Rust Belt states to Trump in 2016.
After his Pittsburgh event, Biden will make four stops in Iowa on Tuesday and Wednesday, travel to South Carolina over the weekend , then head to Nevada and California before returning to Philadelphia.
Joel Benenson, a top adviser to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and President Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns, said it was clear why Biden went right after Trump in his announcement video — because no one else had.
