The Chief was twenty steps (years) ahead of the League Front office. Knew at some point controlling interest would only keep the team grounded.RIP John Rooney.

True Slash, but it was also (later) to keep the gambling aspect from the casino and horse track ownerships two of the other brothers had out of the NFL spotlight. A directive instituted by Goodell, who then shortly thereafter brought in legal gambling after seeing the offshore parley websites making money. Now, has official representation by professional bookers in Vegas, Atlantic City (MGM/Harrahs, etc.) and making even more money for the league.
