Just a reminder,

Another reminder:

Since the Steelers last won a playoff game, the Eagles won a Superbowl with Doug Pederson, fired him and hired another coach who has been two Super Bowls, winning one.

It just shows how the Rooney's approach of valuing stability at HC above all else might not be all it's hyped up to be.

At least they can continue to lay claim to having only three coaches in over half a century. Good for them.

Since Ben retired the Steelers—mainly Tomlin—have demonstrated zero ability how to develop a QB or set up an offense for success. We could draft Patrick Mahomes in his prime and Tomlin would still play a conservative offense.
It sucks, but it's true. And now after watching Eagles defense kill KC last night, and KC turn the ball over, Tomlin will still think it's all about defense and not turning the ball over on offense, so more conservative O coming up.

We drafted Chase Claypool and not Jalen Hurts, who am I kidding Tomlin would've messes him up anyways.
We also drafted the infamous Terrell Edmunds who had a third round grade on most boards over
Lamar Jackson. Of course in Tomlin’s offense Lamar would most likely not have been developed.

Vic Fangio and Steve Spagnolli forgot more about defense than Tomlin ever knew.

Had Edmonds been picked in the 3rd round, it would have been a pretty good pick. He had a nice 5+ year starter career here and was average or slight above. Not bad had he been a 3rd rounder.

But like several players, Tomlin reached into the 1st round and for a 1st rounder, he way under performed for a 1st rounder.

Kenny Pickett, another 1st round that wasn’t worth the draft capital.

Najee Harris & Pat Friermuth, both drafted to high were as Najee soon to be gone and Pat being over paid for what he is used for. ADD in that both were taken while leaving Creed Humphrey on the board. A player who made the pro bowl every year and will continue to be pro bowling for years to come.

Nearly every other team also passed on Creed Humphrey twice.

Precisely why I see no need in wasting a high pick on a QB.
We used to joke that Cleveland was the place where QB's go to die, but as long as MT's in charge, the Steelers may take that crown.

This one cracks me up. Lamenting on passing on Jackson, when QB wasn't even in the realm of a need. 2018 Ben threw for over 5,000 yards and had 34 TD's. No one predicted he'd blow his elbow out the following year. And not one single team in the league is going to draft a first round QB when your franchise QB is still playing like a franchise guy. We may have reached for Edmunds, but we didn't pass on Jackson. He wasn't even on our radar.

FULLY AGREE, but we aren’t every other team and we had a BIG need at center. Coach Tomlin’s answer was a guy named Green. He picked a RB but had no line for him to operate behind. Cart in front of the horse.

I realize this is old bananas and not hardly worth the time, but history if not known has a tendency to repeat itself.

Actually there is one single team that will - Green Bay.
Ok, maybe one lol. But lets not pretend that Jackson was a can't miss prospect, he was a project coming out.

Other notable teams WITHOUT franchise QB's that passed on Jackson:

Jaguars, 49ers, Dolphins, Broncos, Bengals, and Washington (Cousins signed with Minn).

Also passing were teams with "aging" QB's like Giants, Chargers, Saints, and Falcons.

I don’t anticipate that.
We are nowhere close to talking that crown.
This fan has just enough room to add Watson and Winston to that Clown costume.
Well maybe just Watson. Winston is still the backup and has not yet been named the starter.
