Just a reminder,

I don’t anticipate that.
We are nowhere close to talking that crown.
He has just enough room to add Watson and Winston to that Clown costume.

Don't forget Bailey Zapp, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, plus whoever they draft this year lol

This one cracks me up. Lamenting on passing on Jackson, when QB wasn't even in the realm of a need. 2018 Ben threw for over 5,000 yards and had 34 TD's. No one predicted he'd blow his elbow out the following year. And not one single team in the league is going to draft a first round QB when your franchise QB is still playing like a franchise guy. We may have reached for Edmunds, but we didn't pass on Jackson. He wasn't even on our radar.
It’s called having a prepared plan in place for your aging QB which we didn’t. Mason Rudolph was their answer. Go back to sleep!

No because they have never been named starting QB’s.
All the QBs on that jersey were Browns starters that have bit the dust in Cleveland.

I had edited my post to exclude Winston.

Yeah but Spags seemed to have forgotten a lot during the Super Bowl. lol
He didn’t have his best game but you certainly cannot discount what he did for nineteen games prior. He had that defense playing well all year except for this past Sunday.

Hay I’m happy the Eagles won. I really like the Eagles and see in them what the Steelers were at one time before they were Tomlinized.
So am I.
I know that a lot of Steelers fans dislike Philly…but they are the other team from Pennsylvania, and I root for Pennsylvania. No matter what the sport, college or the pros.

See my post from before, Jackson was passed by a lot more teams than just the Steelers. Teams without a franchise guy, and teams with aging franchise guys. It's called "Jackson was a project" coming out of college...

That project worked out real well! Steelers needed a young QB that could sit for a couple seasons behind a veteran and be ready to step in for season 2021. Of course the genius formerly known as Mikey T decides on ******* Terrell Edmunds who was even shocked to be drafted in the first round.
He would have been the perfect transition plan to replace Ben when he retired.

DAMN DRINK IRON CITY IS THAT YOU ?

DID YOU TAKE OVER AUSSIE'S ACCOUNT ???

See my response below, post #21

FULLY AGREE, but we aren’t every other team and we had a BIG need at center. Coach Tomlin’s answer was a guy named Green. He picked a RB but had no line for him to operate behind. Cart in front of the horse.

I realize this is old bananas and not hardly worth the time, but history if not known has a tendency to repeat itself.

KC was coming in from spending the night laughing and reminiscing about the past, causing them to think they were getting an easy victory.

Well that all lasted until the Forearm of the Eagles hit the chin of the chef.

KC came in expecting, Philadelphia came in to play.

Another consideration would have been, was Tomlin ready to alter his offense to the strengths of said Action Jackson. I'm afraid it might have been turmoil for that transition to free and easy. Roethlisberger was not going to be elusive and RPO type QB, so until he retired, nothing was changing.

Baltimore redesigned offense and got the right players to make Action who he is today. I don't think Coach Tomlin could have masterminded that whole transition.

Good point Drink. I’m giving Shades far too much credit. He would have screwed up Jackson.

He would have been a perfect plan in HINDSIGHT. Everything is easier to criticize in hindsight. I remember the board blowing up over the Edmunds pick, about it being a reach, wasted first round pick. Of all the names that were thrown out that would have been better picks (mind you, this is still during the draft, without the ability to look back 6 years later), not one person was lamenting on passing on Jackson.

No because we still had Ben so that’s a fair point. I’m not saying I was a big fan of Lemar at all just that Edmund’s was terrible pick there.
Drink brings up a valid point on Jackson I hadn’t considered. If we had drafted Jackson Tomlin would have had to change the offense to accommodate Jackson’s style of play. More RPO and that wasn’t going to happen under Tomlin who is not exactly an offensive minded coach.

Exactly, that's what Baltimore did. And I will never argue that Edmunds was a good pick, EVER. Taken in the 3rd round with his career, sure, but he was a MASSIVE reach. As was Washington in the second. In fact, I think we can all agree that the 2018 draft might have been Colberts worst, and a huge reason we are where we are today.

Hurts would have sucked on the Steelers. So would Lamar if the steelers drafted him. I bet if they took Pat Mahomes, he'd be playing like Jameis Winston. Big Ben was developed because Tomlin was forced to retain Cowher's assistants. Once Tomlin got control of the team, the offense philosophy has been - eat the clock and don't turn the ball over.

Yep, same thing I said in another post, we as fans got lucky that Ben was a Super Bowl winning veteran when Tomlin was hired. Tomlin never gets to a Super Bowl, let along wins one if he had to build his own roster and bring in coordinators(as we are witnessing), he lucked out getting hired when he did.
That's one thing I don't think Cowher gets enough credit for, he turned over the roster a few times. The Super Bowl team in 1995, 17 of the 22 starters in that Super Bowl weren't on the roster he took over from Noll. Then then 01 team, only had 1 starter on it from the 1995 team(Bruener), then onto the 2005 Super Bowl winning team there were 14 new starters compared to the 01 team.

We all know what T wants to do. To do it you need a O-line then a RB. He has either one. Why? Cause he knows nothing. Packers drafted Love, smart. Steelers ran Ben into the ground then said " Oh my we need a QB" Pickett was a 3rd rounder. I seen that! Why didn't they? Does Nutting have a office somewhere in their building? Sure looks like it. He couldn't run a broken broom handle shop. Art better wake up and get some picks for 2026 draft. It's in Pittsburgh and that's when to draft a QB. They have a lot of work to do to be a top 8 team. Let alone the top team.
