and if this years team cannot make the playoffs then they literally freaking suck. No excuse for not making the playoffs with that schedule.

Our schedule is what worries me the most. Everybody knows the Steelers are trash personified when they play bad teams. I dunno if it's taking them lightly, thinking they don't need to prepare, or whatever.. but playing bad teams worries me a lot more than playing good teams.

This is a stupid premise, though.

Who in the hell are you to say is a good or bad team, 2 games into the season?!

If the Bills were on the schedule, would you say that is a 'winnable' game? How about the Saints?!

I firmly believe that schedule sucks balls.....no excuse for anything less than 10 wins.

Anybody that can't look at the schedule and see that it was almost tailor made for the Steelers is huge homer. They start off the year with the clowns. They leave the eastern time zone ONCE and that is just to the central time zone to play the ****. No west coast trips or even mountain time trips. No Denver, pats*, Seattle, SD, SF etc... They play a lot of average QBs and even get the Saints at home in Dec.

I know everyone talks about them struggling with bad teams. Almost all their wins last year were against bad teams. They beat the clowns twice, rats once, bungles once, Jets, Bills, and Packers playing with a 4th round QB. The only "good" team they really beat was the Lions and their defense was hammered in that game.

This year's schedule shouldn't be that difficult. Even if they lose to Carolina they should be 5-2 heading into the HOME game with Indy. Another dome team playing outside in Pittsburgh. No reason not to be 10-6 this year. You can't find any worse teams in the NFL than Jax, TB, and the clowns.

But thats the thing- Other than Den and Seattle, how many teams can you say are definitely going to be great, or definitely going to be sh*tty?

Discussing SoS prior to week 6 (or at least until week 4) is the dumbest exercise. Because it literally means nothing.

But I keep forgetting that we have a couple of pro scouts on this board who already know the skill level of every team and watch hours of game tape a week..

Yea, I forget that we have guys on here that say how bad teams are every week then want to complain when people say our schedule is easy. Hell it's all over the board about how bad the rats played but then you turn around and say "but who can tell". Well obviously you think YOU can. Just like some on here say that the NFC West is the best division in football then ***** that we can't tell how good teams are...

But hey, I keep forgetting that we have people that talk out of both sides on their mouths on this board. ***** that the team loses to bad teams then turn around and say that we can't tell how good/bad teams actually are...

the problem is : are we better then them ?

The Steelers right now aren't better than anyone IMHO. I suppose that could change as the season goes. I think the game at Carolina will say an awful lot. Even if it is a loss, I just want to see them heading in the right direction.

The Browns may actually be pretty good this year. They run the ball and play defense, they're 4-1 dating back to last season with Hoyer at QB, and could VERY easily be 5-0.

The issue with the "the schedule dictates they should win X amount of games" argument is that the Steelers do not seem to be very good themselves. I'm sure many fans of decent teams around the league are now looking at the Steelers on their schedule as a game their team "should win."

This team will not make the playoffs, and they do suck. I saw enough in the second half of the Browns game to figure they lose in Cleveland. I don't see any reason to believe they can beat the Bengals or the Ravens, even in our house, unless those teams are decimated with injuries. The only games I figure are solid wins at this point are Tampa Bay and the Jaguars. Ben apparently is still feeling the effects of the hit at Baltimore and if he is out any length of time you can figure on losing any games he misses. We have no credible backup unless we find someone on waivers. In fact, I'm not sure we have credible backups at any position.

They maybe 4-1 but those games are 7 games apart. So they lost 8 straight games between times. He is also getting credit for 4 wins when he had nothing to do with 1 of them. He got hurt against Buffalo and was 2 of 4 for 25 yards. He had nothing to do with the win in that game. The clowns are still the clowns.

I'm not saying that the Steelers are a great team. But I'm not sure of an easier schedule that they could have had this year. I think the Steelers are an average team with a franchise QB. Which should be good enough to make the playoffs.

We'll just agree to disagree on the Browns. I think they're a very talented team that can win 9 or 10 games with any semblance of stability at the QB position. Hoyer isn't great, but I think he can be competent enough for the rest of talent on their roster to not go to waste.

I'm not sure I'd even label the Steelers average at this point. Roethlisberger's good, but he has yet to prove he can consistently win without an elite defense, much less a terrible unit like the one they have currently.

Yeah, there are few top notch QBs on the Steelers schedule, but as last season and the first two games of this season have illustrated, one does not need a top 10 passer to work the Steelers defense over anymore.

I think this is only a five or six win team, unless they soon exhibit something that makes me change my mind.

I just don't see it with the clowns. They are already 32nd in yards allowed. They've given up 54 points in 2 games. They've give up 600 passing yards and 300 yards rushing in just two games. I thought they had a great defense? They are actually worse than the Steelers who've only allowed 364 yards rushing and 348 rushing.

We will see how they do. I think they can beat a few teams on the schedule but I don't expect 10 wins from them.

That is a lot of rushing. May be cause for concern...

Bigyapper you're a tool. Everybody can see the cream puff schedule.

Aw, c'mon. You know he has a point. The strength of schedule could look significantly different in November/December than it does right now. If you have watched football for any length of time, you know that. Doesn't fit your argument, though. I agree with Vader about the time zone stuff. That's big.

Did anybody ever consider that other teams or fans are looking at the Steelers and thinking they may be an easy win on their schedule? I don't think we should be looking at the Steelers as anything. They just might not be very good.

The New York City Giants challenge your comment...

You think NY is as bad as Jax? Really? You think at the end of the year that the clowns are going to be a better team than NY? Like I said, I can't think of an easier schedule. But of course IF you are playing the NFC East and the Giants then that means you are also playing the Eagles.

The fact is that the Steelers schedule is easy this year. They have every advantage in the schedule. I know people are going to ***** about how you can't tell about the schedule then they'll argue that team X (like the rats) aren't that good or that team X (like Seattle) are very good.

The reason the Steelers struggle against mediocre/bad teams is they've become one themselves. I don't think fans of other teams who see Pittsburgh on the schedule are ******** in their pants anymore.

Funny how things/perceptions change after a game or two.

Michaels was talking about the Steelers' soft schedule during the telecast last Sunday.

No reason at this point to think they can't make the playoffs.

Can't stand Al Michaels. That OJ-loving, bad dental bridge-wearing idiot needs to retire.

Really?? Michaels is one of the few I enjoy for a broadcast.

Soooo....if OJ never committed murder, would you not hate al michaels so much? Lol

Come to think of it, I don't like many broadcasters at all, LOL. Except for the hot weather chicks on the local evening news. I like them. And of course Suzy Kolber who I'm waiting for the opportunity to turn straight. Just one night, that's all I ask and I'll be going all Joe Namath on her.
