Kaepernick to Broncos?

I did. He wants out, it's the only natural fit. I just don't know if Kubiak wants a runner, or can coach one.

Kap's got talent, and loads of it. Can be accurate and has a gun. But he's going to need some serious coaching and a scheme that plays to his strengths. I don't see that in Denver, but then the Broncos don't have much in the way of options. Their top two guys left, and they're picking at the bottom of the draft. Kap's better than nothing.

There goes the franchise. I can't wait to see demaryus Thomas bitching about not getting the ball

He has to agree to restructure his deal first for it to happen. Denver wants him to take a 6 mil contract pay cut. "The Broncos are set to continue negotiating with Kaepernick, notes Schefter, in hopes they can convince him to lower his $11.9 million in base salary for the 2016 season in order to gain a more manageable cap number than his current mark of $15.9 million.

However, the two parties are not believed to be close in their expectations for the contract restructure at present." - Jack Browne, Score

Right now it is all guaranteed. That's a chunk of change to give up.

He will be a good ft for the Broncos. Hell he took a 49er team to the Super Bowl with much less offensive talent.

Kap won't take less than what he's guaranteed and Denver doesn't have the cap space to pay him the guaranteed amount, so it's unlikely to happen unless Denver offers Kap a lucrative long term deal with a guaranteed amount substantially higher over the long term than what he's due this year.

It just warms my heart to see the difficulties Denver is experiencing.

Denver can't pay Kap 11mil with a 15M cap number? That's ******* absurd considering that Peyton manning isn't on the roster anymore. 15M is a fine price for a starting QB. They've really ****** their cap if they can't afford an average starting QB amount after Peyton retires.

Point#2. Last year there was a ton of speculation in Philly that Chip Kelly wanted Kap to run his offense in Philly. He goes to SF and gets Kap, and now they trade him away. Kelly doesn't know what he wants, and I'm glad he's not our coach. Look for SF to suck this year.

Just looked it up. The Broncos are about 3M under the cap. Peyton's 2.5M in dead money is already counted against it. How do you **** up your cap that much without a starting ******* QB???? Their GM should be shot.

Peyton had them by the balls during that negotiation and Elway was in love with him.

Impulse buyers are rarely pragmatic.

That was a good season for the Steelers. Best rookie season a qb can have in Bens case. And as for the Broncos. Kap's two year wonder is over. The league eventually catches on to running qb's after awhile. RGIII and Andrew Luck are ones that come to mind that play similar to Kap

Peyton actual took a pay cut last season.

He's got plenty of athletic talent, just doesn't seem very smart on the field. Maybe coaching will make a difference, we will see soon.

I'd be surprised is Kap walks from SF taking a monster pay cut. If that happens the disfunction in the 49er HQ is going to demonize this team for several years and Kelly will be out of the NFL within 3 years.

No way no how does he take a straight up cut in pay. He's guaranteed 11.9 million so there's no way he doesn't get that money. The donkeys might be able to give him that in a bonus then spread the cap hit out but that's about it.

I heard he would have to have to take a big pay cut to go there...so it is a little surprising.

Read this and see if you think he's worth his guaranteed money:

At face value, the idea of acquiring Griffin or Kaepernick seems enticing. Both are young, big-name quarterbacks with prior NFL success. But experienced quarterbacks don’t become available unless they’re flawed. And given these flaws, I believe it’s likely they’ll be out of the league before either wins another 10 games.

Only at the WR position. That team had a rock-solid OL and rushing game, and an outstanding D, which, after Bronco's losses, I am doubtful they are going to have the D they did last year. I don't know how good of a fit Kap is going to be with Kubiak's system.

I think the players union would **** if he took this big of a pay cut. In a league where salaries are the litmus for other free agents, a pay cut like this would hurt the value of a starting QB. Let alone a SB starting QB.

the deal is being held up by a dispute over who should pay the quarterback's salary, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The Broncos are willing to pay only $7 million of Kaepernick's $11.9-million guaranteed salary for the upcoming season, a source told ESPN.

Both the Broncos and Kaepernick reportedly want the 49ers to pay the remaining $4.9 million, but so far the 49ers have balked at the idea.

The Broncos have also reportedly asked Kaepernick to rework his contract and lower his salary, but he's been unwilling to take a pay cut.

Denver is becoming a douchebag organization, just like their president.

Denver is in cap hell. If the SF wants to get rid of Kap they will have to pay the difference...otherwise they will have to pay Kap his full salary while he sits on their bench. The way I see it anyways. Kap would be an idiots to reduce his salary.

This is my point on Denver and their salary cap. If Peyton stayed, they couldn't ******* afford him. Peyton had a $15M base and $17.5M cap last year. It would have been the same this year. Had Peyton stayed, the Broncos STILL would have to restructure contracts to come up with the 12M difference. And that's BEFORE signing rookies (another 2-3M). They may think they're playing hardball with SF to get KAP, but SF doesn't need to get rid of him, and why the **** would they agree to paying part of Kap's salary? Denver is the one that ****** their cap and don't have a starting QB.

Kap is actually CHEAPER at full price than it would have been to keep Peyton ($15.9M vs $17.5M). Now Denver has nothing at QB and they're trying to hang an AVERAGE QB contract on the player. This is lower than low. Kap can deny a salary hit and keep all his money this year. Why would he basically say I don't want $5M dollars. It may be smarter to stay in SF and run Chip's offense anyway. That could only increase his value if he succeeds, because he is the perfect QB for this system.

Denver is the bad guy here. They are in cap hell and need to dump players now. If they want an NFL caliber QB this year, they need to jettison Clady (8.9M savings 1.2M dead) or Von Miller (0 dead money $14M savings). The window has shut on this team.

One final point. If SF agrees for any part of Kap's salary, they have to get something in return. That return is draft picks. Denver claims Kap (a starting caliber QB) is worth a 4th (which is essentially a 5th since they pick last). Bullshit. Starting QBs are 1s or 2s in this league. Now SF has leverage to not only get a first this year, but possible future picks as well. Wouldn't be a bad idea since Denver will not go back to the SB this year.
