Kevin Stallings coming to Pitt

Dejan wrote a piece pretty much saying it was a terrible hire.

If there is a way to disappoint, Pitt will find it.

Awful hire. I don't think that Stallings is a bad coach, but he was trending down just as Dixon was and isn't going to bring the energy that the program needed. I hope he succeeds, but this is not the guy Pitt needed at this time.

For the past week I thought here's an opportunity for Pitt to get a Basketball Coach that will make the Team Grrrrr-eat, get a few top H.S. recruits/McDonalds All-Americans to join the Team each year, have the Team competing & winning against UNC, Duke, UVa., Louisville, ND, and GaTech on a regular basis, win the ACC Tourney a few times, making ESPN's Jay Williams and Jay Bilas shut up for a change!, taking on other Top Basketball programs outside of the ACC and roughing them up on the road in front of their fans, staying ranked in the Top 10 in the Nation, making some noise and some Final Four appearance and at least a NCAA Title?

How does that song go from the late 80's.... Back to life, back to reality! Its getting tough to watch all these other great Basketball programs at work and knowing some AD had to make the right hire in order for all their success to begin. I don't think this was one of them for Pitt.

Coach Pornstasche redux, where Pitt replaces a pretty good coach with one who is worse. I would have preferred they promote Brandin Knight.

I felt bad for Brandin Knight throughout this process. I thought Pitt's AD would have been looking to bring in someone who could compete on an ACC level as far as coaching and recruiting on the East Coast. I was also waiting to hear if they were going to schedule an interview with Duke's assistant coach Jeff Capel or someone who knows the ACC. I don't know how much experience Coach Stallings has against ACC schools coming from the SEC but we are going to find out fast once the recruits start making their choices.

Vanderbilts academics hampered his recruiting, he is rated high as a good teaching coach.
Will be interesting to see his first couple recruiting years. Dixon made players better in offseason
and the teams never seemed to improve throughout the year. Would like to see Pitt teams that
steadily improve and are ready for the tournament.
