Damn I can't believe how bad this is.

Why?

Every year CA has wildfires that are horrific because they allow envriomorons to stop them from doing proper forest management, refill reservoirs, cut trees back from utility right of ways and clear out undergrowth. It's just usually out and away from the major metro LA area. This was inevitable.

this is the worst I can recall ever

vote for Democrat policies, get Democrat policies.

Many of the regular people will never recover from this. They will be wiped out financially. I feel bad for them. The rich can recover and rebuild.
What's even more tragic is that many insurance companies won't even write policies in some areas anymore, leaving people without insurance.

I've got a property in a small mountain community in Northern AZ where people are scrambling for coverage with insurers dropping them left and right, or in some cases limiting
the amount of monetary benefits of the policies, or they will offer policies, but the premiums are prohibitive.

Not making excuses, it's just the price you pay to live in an area you choose. At least in my case the forest service regularly thins the surrounding forest and does prescribed burns.

never let a crisis go to waste

Joe loaned NC residents $750. Must pay back. He promised $770 to California. Must pay back. Social security increased $29. Taxable. Joe....the man of the people. He didn't pay tax on all the money in his secret bank accounts. What a guy.

Clearly this is the result of white privilege that was only super charged by climate change.

Oh, good news!! California is going to "diversify" the once-beautiful neighborhoods!

Along with the building code enhancements that are likely to emerge after these fires, change could come through land use innovations such as buying out landowners who don’t want to rebuild, putting restrictions on investors and swapping development rights.

One repeated theme is adding multifamily housing to make the communities more economically diverse and help alleviate the region’s affordable housing shortage.

Yes, let's "diversify" the neighborhoods to make them "more economically diverse"! What does that mean? Why, building ****** apartment buildings and bringing in the poor, who of course are well-known for the care they give their neighborhoods and property.

Bring in poor people to make neighborhoods better. Brilliant. Personally, I know that when I shop for a home - something SN members know is now a hobby of mine - I look for a neighborhood with lots of apartment buildings and a bunch of cars parked on the street, along with trash, lots of trash, and graffiti.

My motto: No graffiti and garbage, no offer on a home.

It will all depend on the individuals that own the nearby properties. The Martha's Vineyard effect.

The fire was not just predictable, it was probably. That's why insurance companies cancelled policies. Everybody knew this would happen eventually. The government did not fill up the reservoirs, so firefighters had no water to battle the blaze.

Now they are saying that instead of rebuilding single family homes, they will change laws to allow developers to build soulless apartment complexes.

It's just funny how this alleged random act of climate change will end up with Dems getting what they wanted. I mean, one could almost think it was planned. But to believe that, you'd have to believe that Gavin Newsome has complete disregard for his own citizens and would willingly hurt them to advance a globalist agenda. That's just crazy talk.

While I don't know the name of the talking head proposing high density housing, I don't think that I'm going out on a limb by saying he doesn't live in a cubicle. And let's see where Newsom lives.

Reverse gentrification?

if there was an opportunistic attorney with an interest in this, couldn't he/she/ze sue the state for gross incompetence to allow this to happen? As said in the IG/Tweet above, the taxpayers were paying for the fire department to have water to put out fires so their homes wouldn't burn to the ground. Yet the state goobermint diverted those funds elsewhere. Additionally, those who had lived there for years and maybe paid their homes off, only to have their insurance cancelled by the actions previously mentioned should have a solid case. Although, realistically, that is the populace suing themselves since we know goobermint never miscalculates or ***** up something running properly. Why, just look at how thriving the Chicken Ranch is. I mean, we all know where the property taxes were going, and this should serve as a wake up call to the entire country.

even wilder is that the people who had their homes burn and lose everything in the process, are not allowed back to the property they paid taxes on to prevent things like this from happening. oh, i wonder if the state will push for those people to NOT pay property taxes since they've lost everything and are subsequently displaced due to goobermint **** ups. Silly me, we all know that won't happen. And will be one more motive to having people sell their property/land.

A billionaire real estate dude says it will cost $1000 per square foot to rebuild. He probably right. And that's probably for a 1600 square foot modest house.

Just before next election, after all these people have months of government stalling them and giving them red tape, the Republican should have billboards all over with pictures of fire damage plus a Democrat smiling with a caption that says - You Voted for This
