We have a Watson thread, and there been lots of discussion about who the best QB in the division is now. We have the Trubisky thread, and a few mentions of Burrow (lots of disrespect thrown his way). But we've forgotten about the quiet, smart, and soon to be SUPER rich Lamar Jackson.

This man is about to play on his fifth year option, or is he? Baltimore wants to lock him up, but he's just say there waiting for Rodgers, Watson, and Stafford...hell even Cousins to sign their deals. Set his new market.

So how does Baltimore play this? Do they hesitate with thoughts of Flacco crippling their cap for years? Do they one up Cleveland? I think it's a very interesting scenario playing out. On the other side of things, what is Jackson's value of himself. Will he ask to be the highest paid QB on the league?

I mean this honestly will not only help shape this year, but years to come for this division. The Browns may have just ruined the whole division with one desperate move.

Him and mommy are the agents! Rumor around me is Ravens offered $35 Mil and they laughed. They want the RB to be the highest paid QB in the league! Pay’em Ravens!! Another rumor was Saints offered a trade for him?

He should get at least 50% more than watson.....

They are in a pickle. Sign him long term and hope his rb skills stay in play or try and sign him short term.
Lamar has most of the bargaining chips

They best not guarantee his whole contract cause they are going to try to get out of it after 3 years

I agree but would be even happy if they just gave him $50 million more than Watson.

I hope it is a 5 year deal and very heavy on gaurantee money. I hope his Mama pulls up her girdle / corsett really tight to actual miserable tight. That will make her fight even harder for her sonny boy's money. Go MaMa go.................... GO MAMA GO !!!!!

Salute the nation

Truth be told, he SHOULD get more than Watson. He has a winning record, he has an MVP award. He is the more successful "QB" of the two.

So if he rumors are true, and he wants to be the highest paid, we've got Rodgers at $50m/year, and if he wants to use Watson's deal, are we going to see a 5 year, 251m fully guaranteed deal? Jesus just typing that is insane.

Baltimore better start hitting on their WR draft picks

Miami cracked the code on him. The midset of "dropping 7 and make him beat you with his arm" was wrong. He could scramble until someone got open or he could run against a spread out 4 man front.

Miami sent the house a lot. He couldnt make the necessary quick, accurate throws. And he couldnt run as easily with 7 defenders at or near the line.

He will fall back to the pack going forward.

Shhh, don't make it public until after they sign him to a gazillion dollars

As much as I hate to say it, Baltimore is a smart organization. I don't think they will break the bank for him. The backup they have may actually be better for them long term...maybe not as skilled but can do some of the same things at less salary, allowing them to flesh out their team.

I would never forget their RB he runs great. Rats should configure a record setting deal which upon completion action Jackson runs up and signs it immediately.

His contract or lack there of will show what the ravens really think about him. He has not progressed much as a passer and I'm not sure if that can be fixed or not. I don't see them making him the highest paid QB in the league. Ravens are kinda stuck. They could pay him and handicap the team cap wise and performance wise. If they don't pay him i feel there will be a lot of political BS going on and lots of media backlash

Oh they are definitely stuck. And he holds all the cards right now.

Yeah, I still think they are. Didn't he sign that massive deal right after he won the Super Bowl with one of the all time great playoffs? He was in his mid 20s, won a SB and one would have thought there was more coming. I can see that signing. Besides, once they realized it wasn't gonna happen again, they cut bait. He was out of there at 33, which is really still prime age for a QB today.

Jackson hasn't really won anything.

Look, I could care less about the Baltimore Ravens and hope they do give the world to Lamar. I just think they are smarter than that. Maybe they learned from the Flacco thing.

Let's hope they didn't 😉

He’s not wrong to demand that. He’s a former MVP. He’s more accomplished than Watson. Lamar should take watson’s deal and tell the ravens that’s the starting point.

This is what the ravens get for waiting to sign him. Once you decide your QB is the guy, you pay him because he will only get more expensive. If you aren’t sure he’s the guy then trade him and start over.

We were doing that to him since his first year starting… his stats vs us are abysmal and he skipped coming back from injury at least once against us…

Exactly the nfl ****** themselves with the four year mandatory contract for rookies… it should be 3 with a rfa bridge contract then the ufa contract… even for a first rounder with the optional fifth year you are basically jumping straight into giant money decisions more or less after year 3, well before you really know how the player is going to be long term…
