Allen had 68 yds and Mahomes had 69. Shows the importance of Rb's in today's NFL. To win championships you need QB's that can make all the throws and pick up random first downs with their legs.

Lady and Manning weren't too mobile when they won it. There is multiple ways to the big dance. Just be able maneuver in the pocket and throw accurately. If you can do that and run for a first down? Sure that helps the cause as well.

That game last night showed just how important a top QB is to have any chance to win. You have Mahomes, Allen, Burrows, etc. that will be playing at a high level for the next decade-plus. If we hope to compete, we need a top QB to match them or we will be floundering for 20 years like between Bradshaw and Ben. We must get a top QB but NOT reach for a QB in the draft just to draft a guy. Be as sure as humanly possible, he is a franchise QB (easier said than done) or wait until next year or the year after. Missing on a 1st round QB will cost us for years if he doesn't pan out. Don't reach.

Agree, Brady, Manning, Rogers and even Brees just had a pocket presence. Knowing when and where to step up or move within the pocket. They also rarely held on the ball to long to take sacks, they knew how to get rid of the ball to fight another down. Mobility does not always me running QB

Can we stop acting like this is new? Sure, it's more of the norm than the exception of years past but the QB style of play depends on the offense you want to run. Since they brought in Canada, I'm sure the Steelers will go to a more athletic QB. Gone are the days of a Fullback and 260lb running back.

It still comes down to QB's being able to make accurate throws. Brady won the Super Bowl last year with -4 yards rushings, Mahomes the year before with 18 yards rushing. There's a reason Lamar Jackson hasn't sniffed a super bowl and he's the biggest threat from a running standpoint at QB in the NFL

I hear yaz TDX27 but this staff has been reaching for years what is different that makes you think they won't. I have STEELERS faith but also can see that Franchise QB is a new position for them to draft. They have always had BEN as their safety blancket but he is gone. I truly hope they get a winner and make it look easy to replace a HOF QB on their first try.

Salute the nation

It's a tough ask to grab a franchise QB. I don't know if Colbert will try on his way out this year or not. If they go with a 6 foot QB, that will be a much harder transition into the NFL as a winning QB and most of the "top" QB's in this draft are right around that height. It's not impossible but it is much easier throwing over 6'-4" linemen when you are that height as well. Rumors have the Steelers liking Howell. He is barely 6'-1" and closely resembles Mayfield but you never know. He is somewhat mobile and likes to throw downfield. I am not sure that fields Canada's short throwing scheme.
