Leal activated Witherspoon replaces him on IR.

Good to have him back. Witherspoon has been doing jackshit for 5 weeks.

Leal was a big loss in the rotation if the DL. Witherspoon has been a non or negative factor after a good look. Anyhow we got action Jackson waiting in the wings RIGHT? RIGHT? WHOOOOO!

Cam Heyward is still a very good player. But he is not a 23 million dollar player next year. The new Steelers way is creating problems. They can either kick more salary down the road next year to the point where he is a cap ghost or move on and hope a player like Leal fills not the shoes of a prime Cam but where he is now.

That's a little of my worry too. We enjoyed our first "REAL" year of not cap hell. I hope we don't immeadiately climb right back into that car of cap hell. I know it will take some management and I' no craptologist but, I'll have to trust the franchise to take care of that business.

I'm less optimistic about your last sentence.

And it's not that they don't find ways to get under the cap obviously they do. But it seems to me that they are more interested in putting what could be an entertaining product on the field by kicking salary down the road instead of taking medicine and building a championship squad.

I think a lot of this is also a result of not having a philosophy, particularly on offense. They also haven't done a good job with the middle class of the roster. Too many highly paid players surrounded by low-performing players. This team doesn't have many Kimo von Oelhoffens, Larry Footes, Deshea Townsends, etc.

The philosophy used to be get good in the draft and if a guy is over priced he walks. Find a great reclamation in a underpriced FA. They had some down years like that but when they got good they got real good. Cowher built two legit contenders completely seperate from eachother. First one came up a little short without quality QB play. Second won one for him and Tomlin too.
