With the Pittsburgh Steelers hours away from making their first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft we’ve went ahead and compiled a list of all of the local beat writers, and Steelers “insiders” as they’ve all released their final mock drafts. That National Media is stuck on the Steelers selecting a quarterback, some of the local guys who are around the team all the time are thinking a little differently. But then again, some aren’t. Let’s take a look.
First up is Mark Kaboly from The Athletic his selection via a story on April 28th:
DL Jordan Davis
Also, from The Athletic, Ed Bouchette from his latest mock draft on March 25th:
DL Devonte Wyatt
Moving onto the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, first we have Chris Adamski from his story on April 27:
QB Matt Corral

Next up, also from the Trib is Joe Rutter from his April 27th story:
DL Jordan Davis
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo released his final mock draft on April 27th:
QB Desmond Ridder
Also from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Gerry Dulac from his story on April 28th selects:

Two quarterbacks, and neither of them are Malik Willis from the local reporters. Stay tuned as we will keep updating these as they come across today.

Don’t overlook the obvious smacking you right in the face. The Steelers have addressed every other need over the past two months, including quarterback when they signed Mitch Trubisky. They have yet to do or say anything about their aging, hurt and unstable defensive line. And if you know the Steelers, they put a lot of stock into not only an above-average defensive line but also a group that can roll six players if they want to. That was impossible to do last year, and the run defense took a beating.

This exercise assumes the Steelers won’t trade, and it’s not likely Liberty’s Malik Willis drops to 20th overall. The Steelers potentially could have their choice of any other QB here, though, so they deliver a mild surprise by taking the undersized but competitive Corral.
