Lol. Mike Tomlin 'truthisms'

Totally. The players are the players. Players get the football punched out. If it takes you 1/4 and a half to figure out they are playing JV offense and then put people up to stop the run what does that say. Or if you are at the 6 and don't put the ball in your QST round picks hands in any way. Like ****.

How can any professional "coach" say their game plan was Ray Ray, 50 passes and ignoring your best offensive player when it matters? At one point late in the game, the Lions had 30 yards passing, and held a lead. The Steelers gave up 200+ yards rushing to the Lions. They looked disinterested, esp in the first half on defense, and offensively failed to generate any rhythm outside the first TD drive. I get players play coaches coach, but they also reflect the culture week in and out and It's clear, neither bought into being prepared for this game.

When was the last time the team looked like a well oiled machine? Aside from a decent all around game a few times a season.

"Mason gave us a chance to win today."

That's more than we can say for you, Mike.
Both statements here are true

How many times can a coach say we aren’t going to overlook this team then his team totally overlooks tgem and thakesctgem lightly, before he changes something up in how they prepare for bad teams

We lost because of the overrated coach Tomlin.
If he had been cognizant of his opponent then he would have realized they have the worst rushing defense in the league.
You have RB and a never used FB made for this type of generous rushing game, a crappy field and weather, but no, Tomlin comes out with the same game template week after week. Throwing the ball with dink and dunk crap like 40 plus attempts with a guy who has not had any game time since last year in Cleveland and who took no reps this past week. The man remains clueless on how to prepare.
On defense they have a crap passing game so their strength is their running game. So load the box to stop the run, get Bush the hell out of there and replace with Spillane and teach these ******* player the proper technique of tacking.
Guys like Ben especially, AB, LevBell, Pouncey, DeCastro, Heath, kept this
guy’s head above water over the years. Watch out now! Losing seasons will be the norm with this character. Totally does not learn much.

Hey now, the players LOVE to play for him....That right there, in itself, is a MAJOR warning sign IMO.

Some of us have been on here bitching for years about Mikey T, since about the time he unleashed hell, but hey, never a losing season.

I've been done with him since just before we tanked against GB in the SB. His mannerisms were clear back then.

Cowher won because he built physically superior teams that wore opponents down… he wasn’t strategically sound either and as he came across better teams in the playoffs with better strategies he lost..

Tomlin has a few different issues but the regularity they lose or almost lose to really bad teams is concerning.., rumors of lax practices and unprepared players counters his press conference babbling about not overlooking teams

I think that ASSUMES that he knows how to prepare in the first place. This is a continuously recurring issue. That is completely on the HC.

I also wish that AR2 would retire, he is at fault more than the HC that has been in over his head for years.

I recall a similar situation back when The Bruce was here when the weather was horrible, Cleveland had the worst run defense in the league, and we passed all day. If memory serves we had a tie that day too. In his post-game presser, The Bruce said "We don't let the weather dictate our game plan." Well you ******* should.

But that also stems back to Tomlin's mantra: We do what we do.

I know of high school coaches around here who spend time breaking down each and every play by every player on their team, then helping them correct any mistakes that were made, then spending hours analyzing film of the next opponent, then coming up with a game plan on how to attack and defend that particular team. This is in addition to holding down a full-time job.

What does Tomlin do all week?

I have said this before on here, but it needs repeating....

There are two kinds of coaches :

The first is the X's and O's coach. Knows the game. Cerebral. Schemes and adjusts as needed. Knows his players and how to fit them into what he wants to do. See Chuck Noll.

The second is the motivator. His players and assistant coaches would run through brick walls for him. Knows when to coddle and player. Knows when to put a foot up their arse. Knows when to cry. Knows when to yell. Can make average players/teams appear better because he coaches them up. See Bill Cowher.

Sadly, Tomlin is neither of these things.
His wins are the product of the game changing athletes we've drafted.
His losses are the product of poor game management, the inability to make in game adjustments, and not being able to scheme for their opponent.
He is continuously called a "player's coach" but that is simply because he lets the inmates run the asylum.

Money post. This is my contention. The best guess is he works on "tominisms" and tries them out.
