Personally, there is no QB in the draft I'm interested in for the early top 3 rounds. I would definitely take a shot on Sawyer Robertson or Haynes King or Joe Fagnano (PA dude) late. Probably 4th or later wherever the scouting department thinks is applicable. Could be 4-7. Either way, the overall message is we are not fixing our QB issue this draft even with Will Howard on board. He needs competition to bring out the best. The FA crop sucks with 6'1" Malik Willis heading the class and a lot of his former team's staff going to Miami. With the surplus of draft capitol, do we trade for Mac Jones if all else fails? What would it take? and does the team let it be known before the negotiations with AR8 begins? The QB issue should be top priority in fans' minds.

Very hard decide. I like that he had some attractive games, would like to see a lower INT percentage. Perhaps that can be coached down as he has showed some development. He had some good yardage output and solid completion percentage games.

Guy wants to start again but do you hand your keys over or would you prefer some competition? Not sure he wants that the competition approach to gaining a start. That is how I would want him…

I think all NFL QBs know their position is a competition every year and I think most QBs want that competition. They don't want it handed to them, they want to earn it and they want to earn their teammates trust. I think Mac coming off that Shanahan offense will fit in perfectly with what McCarthy wants to run and it may only cost the Steelers a top 100 pick this year and possibly one in '27. That's very doable.

If Aaron and or the team decides to go another route definitely can’t cross him off the list.

Ty Simpson can use 2 rnd 3 picks move up in round 2, if Jets pass
I wouldn't get Trinidad because similar QB style and size you can get from AZ for a 6th and restructure Murray.
rest of the QB wont be better than Howard

If they brought in a Murray you would have to treat him like he is on IR, like flood the room with QB capable. As he is one cough away from an ICU swing.

So do you think Simpson will be better than Howard?? In your scenario, you have to account for all the draft capital needed to acquire Simpson. Howard was just a 6th round pick. No trade up, no deals and in the Steelers system for a year. What stats do you give to argue for Simpson as the Steelers next QB?

I think Simpson can be had at 21 if they are enamored with him. Not sure that will be where they value him…He could go higher with the shortage at the top at the position.

Which I would not be in favor of a trade up..

Both Howard and Simpson are mysteries to me. Just too many questions and not enough answers.

The pre-draft visits will give some clues... No way they trade up this year. If Jordyn Tyson, Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon go as expected (top 20), I think the only alternative is CB, DL, or IOL. Makai Lemon would be the PERFECT draft pick, but unfortunately I think he goes earlier, its a pretty weak draft overall and teams will want to grab the top talent early. If I'm trading up its for Mansoor Delane or Makai Lemon and then full stop. No one in this draft is worth it. If I stay at 21, then its Colton Hood CB Tenn or a stud DL like Caleb Banks, McDonald, or Hunter (maybe Jackson Fla St). I'm on the fence with CB Terrell, someone will have to convince me.

With their failures at getting a WR in free agency I am all for trading up for Lemon.

Yeah still locking in my wants but I agree this draft is pretty top weak.

If they want to stay with the 3/4 they should get themselves a more stout NT.

I would kick the tires and check under the hood of Mac Jones-however, he is an older version of Will Howard, and just off of the way Howard played at OSU I would just roll the dice with Howard, cut Rudy (sorry folks last year looked like 2019 Rudy that got replaced by Duck Hodges) and retain Skylar Thompson. It is crazy to even consider Kyler Murray. He would not fit into a west coast system and does not have the attention span to the attention McCarthy commands in a quarterback.

I think it's a very likely scenario.

Protect whoever plays QB with an elite LT & LG. The right side is developing.

2 x high round picks on the DL of late, but room for another high end pick as Heyward gets toward the end of the journey.

McCarthy run teams have a history of drafting trenches high.

100% love drafting Ol/DL every draft.
Even if you have 5 solid starters

Should always have a starter developing

My fear is if they bring aaa-ron back, there is no “Fair” competition. I think aaa-ron only comes back via the starting job. A 42/43 year old QB not having to prove the competition level of play. Youth does overtake age, it’s just a question of when.

I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but truth be told……… they need another 2nd rnd stud OL-Lt or G.

The 1st three picks need to be S / WR / OL (not in order), but not tomlin type draftees, ones drafted for the exact position they will be playing.

**** the draft and change position in the name of diversity, a tomlin staple. Let’s start drafting guys with the position they will be playing, and make them experts at that position.!!!

ask @bermudasteel what he thinks of Simpson before you put your eggs in that basket.

I think the guy CAN play very well, but I also see that he had one of the better collegiate WRs at his disposal last season (Ryan Williams) and didnt accomplish as much as he should have. Just my opinion. That could be a coach/scheme thing though. Simpson's got a fine release and can make all the throws.

to be real, he's not in the same category as sCam Newton or Joe Burrow. He's a better passer than Anthony Richardson and Trubisky.
but do we want to invest in a QB who's compared to Richardson or Trubisky? I wouldn't.

Gennings Dunker. Seumalo isn't getting any younger.

The same people who were down on Darnold the past two years are down on Mac. Anyone who watched Mac this year could see that Shannahan worked his magic on him, just like he did with Darnold. I prefer Malik, but would be good with Mac.

If the Steelers want to go down the reclamation QB road, I'm not sold that Mac Jones is the best option.

He's not bad- don't get me wrong.

Malik Willis will get a lot of support- and his ability to run is very exciting to watch. But not sure if that fits the McCarthy offense that well.

Might be unpopular- but I wouldn't be too upset with teaming Rodgers back up with a guy he mentored a couple of years back.....Zach Wilson.

I read these comments and say to myself, "we're in QB hell right now". Memories of the 80's and 90's.

Mac was awful in NE. He played good in SF, but was it scheme or did mac improve? Ithink there are too many question marks to give up alot for him.
