Mason Rudolph

Serious question here. You state “ Rudolph wasn’t all that durable in his time here “. Is my memory slipping? I can’t remember Rudolph even getting enough opportunities to say this. Unless of course you are strictly counting some ******* thug taking off his helmet and beaming Rudy in the head as a typical football injury. What other injuries are you referring to?

Didn’t that ex-Seahawks safety (Baltimore) head shot & concussed him? That can’t be counted as a durability issue, in my eyes.

I think Rudy is durable enough and proved he can stay in the pocket to make plays. He can move when he needs to, but he tends to hold in the pocket to make the pass. He had very good success in the 4-game streak.

Salute the nation

a capable backup who can come in and get the job done in winnable games.
I agree, that's exactly who he is. He can win games, but he won't win you games. Hopefully, he also won't lose you games. Since there is not a top QB available who will go out and win games for you, then it doesn't matter. Ride with the capable QB until you find your franchise QB.

Concussion in 2019, season ending shoulder injury in 2019 too. All in a limited sample of starting opportunities. I guess in retrospect it’s not that bad. He is immobile and what he does best is throw the deep ball.

The o line is very talented with pedigree albeit young, there is no reason they shouldn’t be above average in protecting the QB, doesn’t mean it will happen tho obviously

Do you know who used to tear up OTAs? Kordell ******* Stewart... Stan Savaran once said on sportsbeat that he had the best touch on a football since Terry Bradshaw after watching a practice... then the real games started and that touch evaporated

There is a reason they sarcastically call it football in shorts... 🤣
Now Howard is up to 133/137 for 47 TDs and 0 INTs!!!

I do think it’s hilarious that the narrative of Mason has changed so dramatically. He went from one of the most hated players on the team to a viable option to start. I would have personally felt more confident about him starting this season if we had DK and GP at wide receiver. Personally feel that any NFL caliber quarterback would have some success with that WR room. I don’t like the fact we are pretty much handing over the starting role to him or Rodgers if signed. I wish we would have signed someone else for a reasonable price to give competition. But what is this board’s consensus on Mason if he ends up being the week 1 starter?
I like Mason, but he's shown to be nothing more than a decent career backup and has made some good money doing it so far.

He's good enough to come in should QB 1 go down and and win a few games like he did during his last season on the team, but not good enough to beat good teams consitently once they have had time to game plan against him.

Then again, he was here playing with Canada. It's possible he does better with the newest OC. However, unless Tomlin is forced to have less control over the offensive play calling, the play calling during the game will probably look about the same as the last time he was here regardless of who the OC is.

Here’s the thing. While Mason is busting his hump to be better in OTAS and seems to have the support of the locker room, AR seems to be contemplating life’s next quest.

Do you think Emperor Chas Noll would put up with this?

I really don’t care if you are shoe in for the NFL hall of fame. You did that while a Packer. How does that help the Stillers?

I’ve said it before - Rudolph is at the age where NFL QBs are playing their best football. Rodger’s is at the age where NFL QBs have been retired 5 years. I’m not sure Rodger’s is necessarily the better QB.
