McCullers showing he's the real deal

Good read, now if some of the fluff settles and this kid can do it, oh what a difference he could make.

Salute the nation

I dont think he's Casey Hampton, bigger and stronger.
I think he's a poor man's John Henderson. Same big frame, same lengths.

If the tenacity can be turned on and left on, THEN we'll have something. Right now, he's a meek giant. Despite the glowing accolades from the media and fans.

Good comparison Supe.

I ve always felt they have overdone the complexity of starting in this defence, especially as it pertains to NT. He has either strong A or weak A gap depending upon the call. In the case of a pass or a run, his most significant job is to force a double team and eat space. This isnt Peyton Manning complex ****. Of course there is new tecnique but give me a break. They have 5 weeks before the season.

Start?!! Wow. He's never gonna be our starting NT. Hell McClendon was off yesterday and they started Cam Thomas. McCullers will be fortunate to be on the practice squad.

The only negative I've read so far is that he's very susceptible to cut blocks, goes down quick and hard. At this time he's still behind Thomas at 2nd team NT and I haven't heard of him being ahead of Fangupo yet either.

Everything I have read is he's been running second team and Fangupo is with the third term. Anyone who is 6-7 will be susceptible to cut blocks.

It would be interesting to see if him and the other tn could help our struggling ends.

I ain't hearing anything about Thomas...guess that could be positive.

I don't know how informed this guy Koroza is but he's the one that said Thomas is running 2nd team NT...

I can't copy and paste the statement but the third paragraph on "some final thoughts" , down near the bottom has his opinion...I guess.

Thomas isn't exactly "running" with the second team at nose tackle, but he is the top backup. McCullers, Fangupo, etc. have been getting the NT reps while Thomas has played defensive end, however, when McLendon was out yesterday, it was Thomas who stepped in at NT. That should be expected.

I should have said "holding down" the 2nd team NT position maybe but nonetheless, I hope they give him ample opportunity to stay..I think he has some potential and he will probably get sucked up by somebody if they try to stash him on the PS.

Course I've said that about others before and it didn't happen, what do I know. There just doesn't seem to be enough spots for everyone we like this year.

Twitter account, Uncle Chip...get a Twitter account:p

McCullers will be fine...

Agreed. I'd love to see what would happen if someone got under his skin nod he flipped that switch during a game. He has the ability to be able to take over a game, a dirty physical kinda game.

Thomas stepped in at NT yesterday because they wanted to test him out with the 1st team. That doesn't mean he has # 2 locked up. McCullers has been running consistently with the 2nd team only one week into camp and he's a rookie, so that should tell you something.

Daniel McCullers had himself a nice practice today, blowing some inside runs up.

He looks like he's moving in slow motion compared to everyone else, but when you're 6-7, 352 pounds, you can do that.

Because he does everything a little more slowly than, well, anyone else here, it can sometimes look like he's not putting forth effort. But I don't think that's the case.

During individual blocking/pass rush drills, he flattened Mike Adams on a stunt. It was impressive to see.

McCullers has been running all week as the second team nose tackle.

Been reading the Twitter thread all week.

Now I'm really confused, the depth chart just came out and McCullers is #3 behind Fangupo. He's got some support around here and he's been hustling, hopefully he can make a move and pass him in the next couple weeks................twitter my ***

The answer is that the depth chart doesn't mean ****. Whoever puts it together defers to veterans over the young guys except in really obvious situations such as naming Shazier the starter. McCullers has been getting snaps ahead of Fangupo all camp.

I hope you're right Al
