Minkah Fitzpatrick - Worth a high pick?

I would say yes to this.

He's not a rookie - 2nd year player. Has the size we need at free safety. States that he's playing SS due to other players skill sets - and is being brought down into the box.

I'm not taking a swipe at Sean Davis, as I think he's at least average, if not a little above. However, he is who he is and likely isn't going to get much better and he's a UFA after this season. Would we resign him? Grab someone in the draft? Cameroon Kelley (Cooch's boy) isn't the answer.

I say get him. Go ahead and trade a 1st for him. Why not ? He is a proven commodity, which sometimes is not a given for even 1st round picks. Let me ask this. When would an opportunity like this come again? I'd even trade next years 1st and the 5th we got for Dobbs for him.

You KNOW I know what Minkah brings to the field! Roll Tide!!!

I compare him a lot to the Honey Badger - and, agreed, no offense to Sean Davis, but Minkah is the real deal.

I'd make the trade, if at all possible...

I would trade our 2nd round pick for him but not our 1st round pick.
With that said, how well does he fit in this idiotic scheme?

Maybe offer Tomless and Butler in the trade too.

maybe send them Davis and our 2nd?

Absolutely! Most guys are said as a joke that they weren’t used properly BUT this guy REALLY wasn’t used properly. He’s a stud and think he’s under contract until 2021 with a 5th year option. Pair him with Edmunds and we are finally back into business in the safety category. Now what to give up it may end up costing either a 1st or 2nd & 4th and maybe a player.

How about a 2nd and a 4th?

"Fitzpatrick wants to go somewhere he can play slot corner, ideally for a team that's going to win more than 3 games this season, and he'd like to go there soon"

He's better than Hilton.

Send Miami Hilton and next year's 2.

It's something the Steelers rarely, if ever, do. In this case, I hope Colbert is working the phones in his pj's, around the clock. This could be a Bettis-type acquisition, one that helps set the defense straight for years to come.

I would do our 2nd and the 5th we just acquired from the Jaguars in the Dobbs trade.

Sean Davis above average? Haha. Okay then why are you talking about a player to replace him?

Kelly is so not my boy. I just thought his ball skills were better Davis.

Davis would be perfect in Miami. Miami wants a first round pick, so the web says.

Nope, you add Fitzpatrick to the Davis/Edmunds duo and create that 3-safety look the Steelers have been planning to run. You can also move Fitzpatrick all around the defensive backfield, down to the slot, outside, etc. It would make the entire secondary so much better to add a talent like him.
